Post by: muleman on October 01, 2009, 02:40:25 PM
What is the diffrents in the cylinder's I pick up a 88 cylinder and thought they were the same but I found the cut off years was 89. I have not gotten the jug yet but i was wondering why it will not fit?

It will work in that direction but not so well in the reverse.  I am not sure that the head stay will hook up with the stock mounts.

So it will bolt up and work  if I mod the mod stay ?   Head stay is broken any way. Nice pics

hi

i have an 88 k5 and i think jfab is right how he says, you could put an 88 cylinder on later cases but like i found out if you wanted to drop a later cylinder onto 88 cases you might have issues, the 88 power valve is a diff setup just two valves,as for the 89 on they have 3 parts to the valve,so on 89onwards the case halves have 3 holes to allow for this where as the 88 only have 2 holes,i can see no reason why it wont work either.

sure someone will highlight any other issues, good luck

The hardest part would be finding a set of powervalves if the jug didn't come with any. The 86-88 have been discontinued by Kawasaki.

The 88 cylinder I pick up has the power valve set up and the head
