Title: 125 problem
Post by: 500freak on September 09, 2009, 03:41:16 AM
hey guy im alittle stumped. ive got an 85 kx125 it starts and revs fine but, the power valves only open in 1st and 2nd. when you hold it open it starts blown smoke real bad. i got it mixed 40-1 and, the carbs on stock settings. its a pwk 38 off a 94 250. and if your lugging it and smack it wide open it just boggs out.

500,
is the carb jetting set up for the stock 250?
There would be a significant difference for an application on your 125.
(My clymer man only has 125 & 250 to '91)
I'll see if I can find specs for a 125 w/a 38mm keihin. That should get you alot closer
(I think D'oldGuy has a Kx125 who may be able to give you some better insight.)

Freak,
That will be a huge issue. Too much gas for a 125. If you mimic the settings for a new 125 is should be very close. Cam.

500Freak,
The jetting I use for the 38mm PWK is as follows:

170 Main
52 Pilot
# 6 Slide Cutaway
N1A1 Needle
1 1/2 Out on the Air Screw

This setup should get you very close on yours, hope the info helps! :-D
