Suspension upgrades that work, other then the basic oil change, revalve and nitrogen charge
-
I started this subject in hopes to get some suggestions on suspension up grades what we have tried what works and what dosent. I was questioning if KX 450 forks would fit on a KX 500, I know the triple clamps would need to be changed or taken to have them milled to fit larger diamater forks, has anyone done this?

Think it would be better to use the stock kxf clamps.
On this k5 my uncle put some 48mm ?hlins forks. Works super with MX racing!!!!
Only on the beache trying to go faster than 100mph isn't funny!!!!
Think there is to much "wheel" offset with this combo over stock K5.

I wasnt sure the clamps would work in the sterring head

Getting the right Spring Rate, for my weight, on the Shock (Static Sag/Race sag) made a huge difference for my k5's rideability. Not that technical, but its workin'.

ya thats all very important... i have done the same but with a revalve, after riding a bike with more modern suspension there is a huge difference but very good point as far as initial setup

In the post there is a picture of my kx500 with a 05 crf450 complete front end.
I used the stock crf clamps, the stem need work for the top bearing to fit. The bottom bearing is the same size as the kx.
The stearing stops are in the right place they just need to be taller.
