this is how i modded my rear fender ,im pleased with the result,
-
looks good, did you mod it the same way the 92-93 fender is done?
-
I have seen very few newer fenders fit the profile of the seat as well as yours. Good job, and looks as though I might have to get me one. It is really hard to get a fender to look right with a seat that is two inches thick on the back,

thnx ,
basically yes,a few cuts here and there ,and it bolted right on ,
and xtra bolted onto the airbox.

thnx man ,it surprised me how it did fit actually,
my sumo also has an around 00 rearfender, which also sits tight like this one does .

here,s the pic of the fender on my plated k5sm ,
its almost the same fender but it,s designed bit different
-
What would it take to get you to do a writeup like the other fender stickie.

i will make pics of both fenders ,same angle,
diff corners , this will show the differences in design ,
the 2000 fender sticks right up to seat level ,
the other one stays an inch from seat level, the main difference
-
well,i made a pic of the modded one what this topic,s about
you can clearly see the fender sits equal to seatheigth,
its a way cool mod i think, there,s a buddy holding a black background up
-
that fits the bike alot better than the 93 kx250 mod.
-
yes it does ,i have some pics of tdays riding with it ,
i figured i post them here ,
so you guys can see for yourself the fender really blends in well
note : dont mention my fat ass haha  im btween jobs and no excersise
-
I picked one up today... Ill try to figure out what was done to make it fit an document it along the way for everyone.... Be patient... Im lazy....
-
ya id like to see a write up thatd be sweet. i did the green 93 kx250 fender on mine for now to see how hard it was and to get some practice. this winter that bike is gettin blacked out so ill have to do it again with a black fender. might use the fender you used!
-
Held it up to the bike today....
I think this is going to be alot less work than the Other fender mod.... First off. it fits between the subframe perfectly where the two bolts are on the rear...
Only diff is it doesnt have the two holes and flat spot in it to mount to the air box..
Ill snap some pictures of all 3 unmodified fenders next to eachother tonight
-
so you think it will be an easier job modding the 2000 250 fender than the 93? Looks alot different with all the fins stickin up on it where the airbox would be. Also is that zip ty tank still in production? does it work with 91 500s?
-
Hey KX500freak... can I get you to snap some shots of inside the fender (under) so I can kind of guess where you made your cuts Before I make mine
Also can you shoot a pic from top view of how it mates up to the seat...
It seems that unlike the 93 fender mod.. There WILL BE a gap between the seat and fender... I could be wrong being in early mock upstages, we shall see...
Cut the ridges off tonight, took 5min with a dremel...
-
yes motorrrad ,i do have to renewal the airfilter from last saturday,
no extra efford to take the fender off ,and make the pics ..
i make it a vid,
i,ll walk around the rear ,that way you see it better,
there,s also my pics ,they dont lie
a few hrs from now and it,s online here
-
Can you walk around both the Supermoto fender and the 2000 KX250 fender.... Id like to see both in more detail...
-
hey Doordie what rear fender is this?
http://www.kxriders.com/coppermine/displayimage.php?album=random&cat=1&pos=-103
-
so ,i have made a couple of vids ,from both bikes,
the supermotofender stays an inch lower then seatheight ,and no gap whatsoever.
the dirtbikefender meets seat heigt.
but that in essence was an unknown surprise ,that the 2000 fender raised to seatlevel,
therefor a fingernail wide gap btween seat and fender is inavoideable ,
just in order to reach that height,
the pics reveal that you need to cut all the ridges ,
then it must be cut in a tapered shape downwards
and there are 2 small cuts to make on top,
in order to be able to let the seat sink to mounthole-height again.
this is invisible when seat is mounted
thats all to it ,im more then happy with it
it s up to you now ,dave

nice, its a way way better fender then stock or whatever
curious i am when done you are :-D

but you gotta love the stoke rear fender i love it im still thinking of going back to it
-
Few new pictures added of work done in the spair 5min I had today...
Note I did the seat pan mod as done to the 93 rear fender... may make it not nessisary to cut the protrusions off the fender like you did...

well any progress made yet ,its awfull quite here

sec theres a pic of a few years back ,stock fender :|
-
I'll try and wrap it up tomarrow. Had a few emergency calls into work this week.
-
how is the fender ,are you pleased with it?
i have an update tho ,i got me a tall seat just yesterday
now this one sits a bit further of the fender ,but still looks good enough for now
-
Okay been slacking on this one I know..... (been dealing with realators and house hunting every spair moment i have)...
I have promiced myself I will have it done by the weekend! so updates to come.
-
I dropped the ball on this one. Plan on finishing it's mounting over the next 3 days. Bump to top for my own reminder
-
way to make em fit! looks good.
I'm waiting for my black 93 kx250 plastic in the mail.
I agree these look way better then stock
-
Okay. Realize I never got around to doing a writeup... OOps...
But here are some pics.. so you can get the idea..
To make it fit, you have to
1. trim all the "tabs" on the back of the fender.
2. trim to clear the exaust
3. Modify seat pan (just like the 93 fender mod)
4. Screw lower portion to airbox.
I really like the way this fender looks VS the 93 one. (doesnt look like a stink bug)..
93 fender in center, 2000 fender and K5 fender on outside..

It was time for a new fender so I gave the 250 mod a try. Turned out great. Very simple to do.
I used a Polisport fender.
-
Looking good..
I Like this fender mod much more than the other one.... Other one looks too much like a stink bug for me.
-
Did this mod on my 03 500 yesterday.very easy and looks so much better! Still gotta trim the seat down.
-
I too fitted the newer(2002KX125) fender. It looks like Kawi herself intended it to be there.
I still have to fabricate a mount for the front of the fender. My plan is to have an aluminum tab welded to to the left subframe strut and use the factory mounting hole on the left side of the fender.
**Just a warning for guys running wider tires.... they RUB and RUB hard at full compression.
I have a Millerville 120 and have a look at the pictures after a few hard landings.

-
Here's a pic of mine snapped this morning before work.....seat is just sitting on top.still gotta mod it.
-
did y'all have to use the screws into the airbox to align the fender? i bolted my seat on after modding it this evening and tightened it down and it made my fender a little crooked to the right. loosened the seat and push on the flap part against the airbox and it looked like it lined up straight. need another person to eyeball it from a distance so i can put two screws in the airbox. may have to take some staples out and trim a little more of the seat. i think it's pressing on the fender some and pushing it out of alignment a little too.
-
KevenW...
Does the fender sit straight before the seat is bolted down?
Bolting the seat down should not change anything.
Sounds like you have more trimming on the seat to do!
Brad
-
Yeah brad it seems to til I put the seat on. Gonna trim more....
-
My fender looks straight to me. Maybe your subframe is tweeked a little bit. I haven't bolted mine to the airbox yet. I may just leave it as is. I have already ran one desert race since I put it on and it doesn't seem to move at all.

Ahhh another rider that looped out a KX500 and broke the rear fender ! :D
-
You guessed it Polar. May have done it a couple times. Loved it every time though. I should probably have a few fenders on reserve.
-
I love the more aggressive look of the 2000 kx250 rear fender. Just picked one up from UFO Plastics. I will try to get pics of the install once I get my subframe fixed and rewelded. Anyone know of a good front fender that will fit and match the newer aggressive look?
-
2009 kx 450 looks sweet.
-
2000 KX250 rear, with an 03 KX250 front. There's a thread on exactly how to cut the rear, just do a search and you'll find it easily.I had to modify my front number plate a little to fit the front fender good...that's if you keep the stock KX500 front number plate, which I did.Total time to do everything was roughly an hour, just go slow and don't over cut...just cut a little, put it in place and mark where you need to cut some more.
-
2009 kx 450 looks sweet.
Got a pic of one on the bike? 8-)
-
Foxx where did u get the graphics? Is that a new OEM seat cover lookin good
-
I got the graphics from DennisKirk...they're FX EVO7's.Yeah the seat and side plates came off a 2000.The seat was a SWEET deal...I got it off e-bay for $50,and it's like brand new!!!...I also got the white side plates from the same guy for $35,and those too are mint!!
-
2003 kx 250 works best
-
Fender looks sweet on mine, i used a 00' kx 250 from memory and trimmed the seat as informed earlier in the thread.
It seems to let alot of water/dirt/mud into the airbox and dirties the filter quicker than normal it seems? Does anyone else find this? Maybe i stuffed up the trimming, but it gets a clear path between the side guards and the mudguard into he airbox.
Ive got a 03 kx125 guard in black i'll try again as im thinking the whole bike will look mean with black plastics, the tank is already black like the 04's were i think? mine is an 03'
cheers, Smitto

Hey guys, long time no see. I am doing a little off season rebuilding. I run the straight fender mod. I was happy to see some 92,93 fenders on eBay for 30 bucks instead of 50 like I paid last time. I wanted to check out the 2000 fender, because I think they may be in better supply and better prices in the future. Unfortunately, after I got logged in here, the pictures seem to be deleted. I can still see the thread, but pictures have been covered by a blob. I’m interested in how it looks, how it bolts up and how it seals off to air box. Thanks again
-
You're in luck...I have several modded and unmodded '00 fenders layin around for pics....getting a pic with it on the bike will be a little tricky at the moment, as both bikes are pushed deep in a corner, with all kinds of stuff blocking my way to them.
Here's a side by side of the modded/unmodded...
Another from the bottom side...
As you can see, all the standing supports on the top need to be cut off, making it completely flat. You should be able to see by the pics how much. and where to cut and trim.
This pic is the modded fender sitting on top of the unmodded fender...

This one's just a side view...

If you need any more pics to better clarify, just say so.
Just go slow, cut a little off, hold it up in place, see how it looks...and repeat the process till it fits snug.
