Hi guys

Just wanted to say Hi as I'm new.. I've just bought a KX500 supposedly a 89 but its a KX500B - 010102 & ive heard this is between a 91 & 93, anyone know for sure??

I arrived to collect her & the owner was trying to start her as shes been sitting for 3 months. The tank was dry so he put some new fuel/premx in, put a new plug in but he was kicking over & over again but nothing. He then got his dad to tow him behind his van to get her bump started (compression is huge), it started 1st time & started again 10 mins after!

Is there anything that could be wrong because now I've got her back she wont kick over :-( ???

Here is how you start it.

Choke on
Thick riding boots on else you risk foot / shin damage
Couple easy kicks
Kick the bejeezus out of it

Might also try setting the air screw back to the factory setting (See the specs list at top of page). The bike may also be set with a really slow idle or set to not idle at all which can make it hard to start.

Ah brilliant, i'll look at the air screw, she doesn't tick over at all.. soon as you let the throttle go she stalls!
