well i was ridin my 91 kx500 at greenridge today and i was rippin arse up a hill and crash, bang, boom. Went from twenty to nothin in like 5 ft. I broke the hub on the rear rim on the sprocket side in half. Completely in two. Whats the fix for this gonna be?
-
The K5's went to a newer hub in, I believe, '97. Yours has 1 bearing on each side and the newer versions had 2 bearings on the sprocket side. I would either get a newer version OEM hub or a Talon brand hub. Bearing and/or hub failures on the earlier 500's weren't too uncommon from what I understand. :-o

well id like to go aftermarket as long as it isnt crazy expensive. I want to go with a all black wheels with kawi green spokes also. The bike is gettin torn apart this winter and the frame is gettin powder coated black and the plastics will be new kawi green with a kx250 fender. So w/e goes with my color scheme
-
the only place i can find the talon hub for my bike is talons website. i tried looking up talons part number on google and got no results. Where can i buy it from?
-
you can also use a kx250 rear wheel they are the same, you may be able to find one on Ebay. CBX
-
is there a range of years the kx250 had the same rear wheel? thanks
-
still havnt heard from talon about thier hubs. gettin pretty annoyed
-
95,
I know the 89 thru 02 fits (unsure of the 03 & 04).
-
I don't think talon offers a hub for the 91 kx500. their hubs the offer for the kx500 start in 94. So i wonder if i could use a 94 kx500 talon hub? they haven't answered emails and i called their U.S. suppliers and got hung up on :s I just want to get my dang bike fixed so i can ride.

Maybe try giving these guys a call.?.?.?.... http://www.warp9racing.com/

It will work, I'm running a 90 500 hub on a 01 250.
I think the 94 hub is the year kx came with double bearings on both sides of the hub.

Hi everyone
Let me add to the discussion about rear wheels. kawasaki part # 41034-1205 is the older 2 bearing hub. This hub was used on:
1990-1994 KDX200
1990-1994 KX 125
1990-1994 KX 250
1990-1996 KX 500
kawasaki part #41034-1270 is the newer 3 bearing hub. This hub was used on:
1997-1998 KX 125
1997-1998 KX 250
1997-1998 KX 500
everything listed should be interchangeable. I got this info from Kawasaki.com in the parts diagrams. Use spacers that are correct for your year of bike. Their may be a minor difference in rear brake disc diameter but I have yet to research this out. But all in all these (rear wheel) years should interchange. Spoke kits are available from www.buchananspokes.com and www.rkexcelamerica.com. Hope this helps everyone

ok thanks for all the info guys. I shot warp 9 a email also.
-
I'm sorry it was a three bearing wheel. Its a long time sence I had that problem.
My 90 model only had one on each side.
-
so if warp 9 offers a wheel for a 94 kx500 than from what everyone is saying ..... itll be the same as a 91?
-
it took qtm 2 weeks to get back to me and they do not offer a talon hub for my bike. Still waiting on warp 9. i emailed them at the beginning of the week.
-
Try Rad Mfg. They offer hubs for most bikes, and use oversized standard off the shelf bearings and seals that most bearing houses carry.

ok thanks alot

Ok guys. You all don't have to worry about me asking any more dumb questions haha. I found a 90 kx250 wheel on ebay for cheap and bought it. Should be riding again soon! Thanks for everyone's help. I appreciate it!
