first bit of help needed!

put the bike in neutral and she wheels freely back and forth, EXCEPT, when its leant any amount to the left (and i mean just enought to off balance her). then it wheels backwards fine - but wont go forward !!!!

it is like it is in gear. if i then set her upright or lean her right, she wheels fine again. all this without going near the gear lever.

It is like the gears a sliding over and going into gear. any ideas?

kev
p.s. - if i pull clutch in , its fine.

Sounds like it has a bad shift fork or shift drum that is allowing the gear to slide over on the shaft. I would split the cases and go through it. I would start by running the crank case oil through a paint strainer and look for bits of metal.

brand new Talons/Excels came with the bike - never even turned a wheel. cause your asking, i am guessing 19" is standard?
