hmmmm RAF........Would England let you call it that? :-D

K5Abuser,
If you turn Stewarts ride in to something like this, I think he just might stone you. After re-thinking the Subject maybe it should be called the K5Neglector, as this thing definetly has not had any loving given to her.
KX500Freak,
Yes, there are plans for the whipped girl. Stay tuned, as I think all of us here will enjoy her future.

frame back from powder coat ..and they were able to fix that radiator
-
re did frame pipe bracket then had powder coated
-
Stewart nice job on the pipe mount & powder coat (it's better than new already) . Stage 1 of many & I am glad to see this thing finally get some quality attention that it deserves. If the radiator shop was able to repair that thing please post their contact info as our local shop has closed up (plastic disposable radiators) & they would be a good source. Keep us posted on her progress.

frame back from powder coat ..and they were able to fix that radiator
What sort of voodoo magic did they use on that radiator?
-
I sent a total of 6 radiators to the repair shop- 2 off my RM250 and 4 that Stewart needed work on. I got them back from the repair shop yesterday and the first thing I did was open the box to see what kind of sorcery they did on Stewart's radiator. I was amazed- it isn't pretty but they were able to straighten that radiator out and weld the torn piece back on. They pressure checked it and confirmed no leaks. Both Stewart and I figured that radiator was a goner, but low and behold it seems they were able to work a miracle on it. I believe Stewart is going to post a phot of the radiator today. As for the rest- the left hand radiator on my RM was hit from the side and they were able to straighten it and make it look like new. They also fabricated and welded new brackets on the right sid radiator for the shrouds to mount to. They pressure checked and painted them and they look great. The shop is Myler's Radiator Repair, 6722 So. Airport Rd., West Jordan, UT 84084 800-367-7699. They specialize in motorcycle radiators and oil coolers. You can check out their website at www.motorcycleradiators.com. Between Stewart and I, we spent about 370.00 to have all 6 straightened, weld any leaks, fabricate brackets, paint and pressure check. Considering an OEM replacement radiator for my RM is 550.00 PER SIDE, the 105.00 I spent was well worth it! I can only imagine that OEM replacement costs for a KX radiator is in the same ballpark as mine.

pics of the radiator from the third picture of this thread ,,not bad

My Father is a great welder. He titles himself as "Master Manipulator of Molten Metal" I have seen him fix a many radiators off semi trucks and other various things and he spent years welding high pressure steam lines in nuke plants. The worst radiator to weld is for the air conditioner. The oil in them can really give you a hard time.

updates of that bike
-
Looking good as always Stewart. I can't believe they were able to fix that radiator. May not look pretty but with the guards on you wont see it. As long as it doesn't leak and it keeps it cool who cares what it looks like.
-
Man that girl is defineatly coming along nicely.
on a sidenote, I do see an awful lot of Green in the background...lurking in the shadows of the secret lab somewhere in the midwest.....
I can actually vouch for Mylers also. I called him before I sent him the Rads from my '85 CR500 and the guy took time out to talk. If you don't want the "Whole MaryAnn" he will only do what you want/need.
Tell them you want the like new treatment and he will clean, repair, straighten and paint to look as close to as new/reconditioned as possible.
Great guy, loves talking bikes, Family business, does great work. 'can't beat that with a stick.

:-D Hey Goat,
I'm thinkin' any one who has been to Wall St. is probably chuckling as there is no way they are gonna brag about their
"Stash" . It's like the old commercial about how many licks it takes to get to the center of a Tootsie Pop...
The World May Never Know... :|
