Title: taking off flywheel weight

Flywheel weight thread on regular or reverse....just broke my strap wrench trying to remove flywheel weight...arghhhhh

The flywheel weight has four set screws around it, have you loosened them first?

yea... i did.  If i remember right they just unscrew a couple of turns correct?

Yeah, do you have the bar and bolts that came with the weight OR are you just using the strap wrench?

They thread on regular. i had to look at the one in my toolbox :lol:

thanks for checking..... at least i was turning the right way when i broke the strap.  Any other ideas on how to hold the flywheel?

I pulled the plug out and fed 3/8" nylon rope into the cylinder (leave some sticking out ;) ) to fill the cylinder and stop the piston from moving. That made it easy to get that thing on and off.
