Title: Update on my '89 KX250
Post by: keithluneau on May 04, 2009, 11:43:04 AM
Just wanted to post an update. Today I installed new front a rear fenders, grips, and a clutch lever. I've also got a gripper seat cover to put on, just haven't tackled that yet. I did cut the seat pan to fit the rear fender already though. I think it looks MUCH better already, and should look even better once I get the graphics for the shrouds and tank, and get the cover on the seat.

Thanks! I just came back in from putting the seat back on. I took it in the house and put the cover on earlier. (Mosquitoes are too bad in Louisiana to be outside too long at night! lol)

It came out better than I expected. I actually got the cover on straight with no wrinkles! Until I put it on the bike that is... ;) The tank pushes the front of the seat back, and the cover loosens right in the bend. Oh well, maybe it'll tighten up if it shrinks at all. If not I can live with it. Picture tomorrow when the sun is up!

Pictured with the seat cover on... You can see the wrinkles at the front in the bottom of the bend, I can live it that though it it doesn't tighten up on it's on once it's worked in...

It's the stock 19, tire is a 110/90-19 Maxxis. I'll need to change it out soon, knobs are half worn now. I might see if a 120 will fit though, I like a nice fat tire in the back... ;)

19 inch rear wheel has just about become standard since 88 and newer KX's. Most all motocross bike will have the 19inch rear wheel and offroad bikes with come 18inch wheels. Some older bikes 87 and older could have 18inch or even smaller.

Actually, 88 was the last year for the 18" rim. They switched to 19s in 89. My 88 500 and my friends 88 250 had 18s.

Yeah, it's a UFO fender for 2003-2007 KX250. It bolts right up, but I did have to trim a small piece off the bottom of the number plate.

The rear is a UFO for a 1992-1993 KX250, as per the article here - http://www.kxriders.com/forums/index.php/topic,3277.0.html

The rear takes a little more effort to fit, but it's well worth it!
