Title: What year cylinders will fit a 1989 KX250?
Post by: keithluneau on April 11, 2009, 04:41:27 AM
I'm on the hunt for another cylinder, I'm fed up with fighting this one trying to get it sealed. I want to get rid of the sleeve anyway.

What year models will work? Again, it's an 89 KX250. I need to know what to watch for on eBay and the like. I've already posted a want ad here.

Thanks in advance, and any help will be greatly appreciated!

88-89 maybe 87. I can't say for sure but 85-86 and 90-91 should be different.

87-91 is the same bore and stroke, but 87-89 should definitley fit.

Thanks for the info! I knew the 88 would fit, but not the 89. I'll keep an eye out for something.

I guess in the mean time I'll try to get the two studs fixed in mine, and try one more time with a new head gasket. If that doesn't get it I'm done with this one. ;)

Speaking of the new gasket, is there any one brand that's better than another? I'm leaning towards the Cometic top end gasket set for about $35 right now, just based on price and availability. Any other suggestions on a better gasket?
