This is what I am getting...
The guy that had it stolen collected on the insurance...
The cops said that the insurance companies "sign off" on dirt bikes and such 75% of the time. He said if they sign off...I will have a "right" (given by the DA that he already spoke to) to the bike. This is because I did the right thing by turning it in, and because I did actually buy it not knowing it was stolen.
He said it will take months...these things do...
Keeping my fingers crossed...
On another note: The guy that sold it to me has not been arrested yet...because I have to drive from the top of NY to SC to sign a warrant for his arrest. That is BS! That trip costs me about 500. And there is no way in hell that you will get me in a airplane! I do plan on making the trip after the holidays sometime. I HATE those SC Sherrifs!
-
Woot, good luck on reclaiming the beast. If that drive leads to an arrest then it would be worth it to me. Thieves should be locked in a cell with a very large, overly endowed "partner" who'll make it sure it's dry and often ;)
I hate thieves

Hulkster, you might ask if you can sign the arrest warrant in New York, witnessed by a local deputy, or maybe even just notarized. Either way should work, as the SC folks will have comfort that you actually signed the warrant.
Hopefully the end result of this will be the return of big green to your stable.

They won't accept that.....that's why I HATE thier stupidity.
-
Hey.... at least you might get the bike back. And you've got an excuse for a weekend vacation to SC.
-
Well....I might be going to SC sooner than I expected....this coming week! And it won't cost me a penny. My friend has to drive his brother down and I'm most likely going for the ride. :) That means maybe this jerk will spend Christmas in JAIL....hehehehe
-
Hulkster,
You might be able to fly to S.C. for real cheap on JetBlue or try United's web-site under "Specials".
Get those A$$HO's!
Manny
-
FLYING is OUT OF THE QUESTION.
I fly low....on pavement.
-
Leaving for SC Thursday morning....will be signing the warrant to pick up the jerk...
-
Get his ass and then make sure "Bubba" does
-
OUCH!
Good one Paul!
MANNY
-
Well....they still draggin' thier asses....
I will have to goto Georgia to file a civil suit....can you believe that s**t?
-
Hulster i feel for ya bud!!It does not make any sense to have to go to georgia for a civil suit??????I know things are f***ked down here when it comes to law enforcement and politics.SC is real bad in some places....I hope you get your bike back and if i can do anything for you let me know!!
-
Thanks....yeah...they are still fighting the Cival War down there...
-
Still in impound....waiting for insurance company to sign off hopefully.
Now they say I gotta goto Georgia to make Civil Suit against the jerk to get my money back. I don't really care as long as I get bike back. But hey....some cash for all the BS I put up with and all the travel I did wouldn't hurt either.
I'll update next month unless something pops up.
-
Danm man, here's to hopeing everything works out... again

UPDATE: I just spoke with my investigator this morning. He gave me the name of the insurance company. I called them and am now working with an Insurance Investigator at Progressive. He is also a rider! :) Hw has a lot of contacts and he is gonna MAKE SURE that ebay (he has high contacts there...hehehe) pursues the guy that sold me the bike. He said that I WILL be getting my bike back, Progressive is a multi million dollar company who has no interest at all in my bike. He also has real high contacts and friends in the law enforcement agencies envolved. He has assured me that Mr. Dudley (sold me the bike) WILL be taken care of and he CAN and WILL make the law do that. He told me that I will have my 500 back by spring in time to ride! He is taking this case personal and he is even taking it home with him where he will also be working on it at home. Mark this on the calandar people...insurance company doing something good for the good guy. He said he's gonna help me because I did the right thing.
I'm SOOOO happy.....I'll be happier when it's back in my garage...
Here...my friends is my bike...

That's awesome (http://forum.1320stangs.com/html/emoticons/thumbsup.gif)

Nice to here a happy ending.
-
not done yet....I hope this guy's for real.
-
Congrats.
-
OK...here is what happened. I have bought the bike back from the insurance company. They have NO MORE INTEREST in it. It's mine. I had to have my buddy (a dealer) buy it because the insurance company couldn't sell it to me due to New York State laws.
Here is the killer.... $1000
I should be picking up the bike tomorrow I believe...just need to get the MSO faxed to me...bring it to the impound....and I'll have my bike back.
As far as the idiot that sold it to me...NOTHING is being done to him as he's down south and they won't lift a finger to help a Yankee....that's another story though...

Yup, Crime does pay in some cases....
Kinda sad you had to pony up some more money to get the bike, but she's still a sweet looking machine.
Question: Would you do the same thing if you had it to do all over again?

Not without full documentation....and a call to run the VIN number. I was too trusting...and it bit me.
