Title: Zx636 motor in a KX500
Post by: ToomanyKaws on March 12, 2009, 05:15:01 PM
Met a guy the other day out riding.   We were talking about projects and said I was going to take a KX500 and put a streetbike motor in it.   For hillclimbing and the sand dunes.    Ended up getting a ZX 636 motor today from him with the harness and ECU.
Hope to find a decent 2000 and up KX500 to use.   Want to run it at a few hillclimbs first in the stock or extended class before tearing it down.  And using the motor for the my KX450F project.    Should have two unique bikes when I am done.

That's cool man, there's a guy around here with what I think is a CBR 900 motor in a quad chassis that comes out to the sand drags every year in April.  There's another guy with a R1 quad also.  They still can't compete with the unlimited Banshees though...  There's a custom triple Banshee motor supposedly at 195hp and several twins in the 170s.

On a side note, I tell myself every year I want to enter as they have a 500 class, but I can never get my motor done.  Sponsor anyone? :-D

I have a kx 500 chassis with a ZX10 motor and have just about finished a 650 ninja in a 250f chassis. It takes alot of work but they are pretty cool when done. On a side note I don't think I would use the 500 chassis, not that there's anything wrong with it, but I would use newer technology.
