Has anyone out there used the asv brk lever on their K5 if so how did you mount it. I am not sure how to attach the plunger to the lever it is a little different than the stock one. I will call the company when i get a chance during bus hours but if someone out there has dealt with this I am all ears.
-
You don't attach the plunger. There is an adjustable screw that pushes the plunger in.
-
So if i got this right you adjust that long screw in and then fit it into the hole on the back of the lever. Does that sound right? If so did you have any problems adjusting that screw i cant seem to get it to budge.
-
I did not have any problems. Make sure you loosen the large nut that holds the screw in place.
-
Copy thanks for the info thats how it looked but wanted to make sure before i screw something up. Will try to today after work.
-
They work great. Wouldn't buy anything else.
-
Yeah I love the clutch lever have been using it for about four years. Just got the break lever and having trouble installing it how do you get the long screw out of the plunger, mine is really tight or is that not right. I am sure it is something stupid i am doing but i just cant figure it out and the climber doesn't really explain.

This one
-
Well....I'm going to confess. Mine is a 2007 master cylinder on the AF in the pic. It had no bolt like that. Sorry.
-
Huh this is off my stock 2003. Thats a good looking bike you got there. My motor is just about done and will have your reed spacer on it thanks again!
-
No one else out there has put asv on there break lever. I think i am going to cut the screw and fit it in the little hole on the lever. No more suggestions out there?
-
Sorry. I ran a 92 CR250 lever on mine. Shorter and gave a better leverage ratio for more feel. Cam.
-
i know what you are talking about here. My 99 KX5 was the exact same way. I had a spare front master off of a 07 KX450 that I used. I saw that when I went to swap my ASV C5 brake lever on and got confused, looked at the later model 07 master cylinder and figured it would just be easier to swap the masters. I know this does not help you though.
Maybe call ASV? Their support department rocks majorly

i just bought a set for my bike. looks like i will have the same problem.... I have a 99 k5 front master on my bike now.....

Lever included. Also. little know fact....use a master cylinder off a Honda. The hose is on the back side out of harms way!

Hey Charlie 500 did you figure it out yet . I haven't had time to call asv maybe i will have time tomorrow work has been busy. I rode with my old lever this weekend did not want to waste a good ride day tinkering to much. So if you have figured it out I'm all ears.
-
sorry man, i haven't even looked at it yet. Still haven't rode my bike since a frame off restoration.... Just started my bike the other day and noticed my countershaft seal leaking... I ordered the seal, the o-ring and the collar bushing... i was thinking of maybe just finding a different master cyliner for the front brake... which one would be best to get and would work with the k-5 hose???
-
ok so i tried to install the lever..... i ran into the same problem. i decided to try and cut that bold down so it would maybe fit into the small hole on the lever... after i did that the lever fit into the purch pretty nicely but it was applying pressure on the brake caliper... I don't think that this lever is going to work with this purch....I will try and give asv a call tomorrow...

So I didn't have time to call asv yet but did have time to go riding at stoney ford and wouldn't you know it, first ride of the day bent my stock lever that has been on the bike since 2003. I guess someone is tell me to quit being lazy and figure it out. So it sounds like the cutting the bolt thing did not work do you think it would help to cut it shorter or it just wont work?
-
So i called asv, it looks like i have the wrong lever. She sent me this email. Keep in mind my master cylinder is off a 99, not a 2003. I was at stonyford last weekend too....we camped at mill valley camp ground. Didn't get to bring the 500 though, the counter shaft seal started leaking 3 days before the trip.... Well hope this email helps you out.
Hi Charlie,
Double check the knee (silver part of the lever that fits into Master) that it?s labeled ?B1.? If it is then this is the wrong lever.
Ship it to the address below, ASV - Warranty, Attention : Karen Wray.
We?ll change the knee so it?s a BHF33 and ship it back to you. Normally, we have the dealer take care of it, but he?s one my dealers and I already know he doesn?t have it in stock, no need to inconvenience him, he?s a good guy.
Please reference RA 1082. Write this number on the outside of the pkg when you mail it in and keep a copy of this email in case you want to email me with status.
I recommend shipping it priority mail, or UPS, anything to get a tracking number.
1st Class mail is too unpredictable and not trackable.
Call me direct with any questions. Ext. 132
Cheers,
Karen Mertes-Wray
