I am about to rebuild the lower end on a 86 kx250 and will need to reseal the center cases. i asked my dealer but all he wanted was to sell me some parts
i will be ordering from service honda (unless you have a better spot) so a part # would be nice.
thanks

I love kawibond but it may not be available anymore. I really like the permatex motosealant. It is grey and very similar to the kawibond. Cam.

I was wondering about this, now that Cam has liked it
I'm gonna get some of this next time we go to town, and give it a spin.
It looks to be a copy of Yamabond / Kawibond which are other popular case sealers.

I have used this in the past and it works well if the mating surfaces are in good shape, hang the gasket up and spray both sides. Wait a few moments to tack up and put her together.

I use Three bond 1211 with excelent results. We also us it extensively on the PWC case halves. It is also recommended by many manufacturers as the sealant to use in their machines.
Here is a quick URL to check it out.

Tuck,
That permatex stuff smells "exactly" like the old kawibond yamibond stuff. I used kawibond as headgaskets in my watercooled 2-stroke roadracer -no gasket of any kind just the kawibond. Never failed or leaked ever. I have heard great things about the 3 bond (it is sold at my yamaha dealer) but I have never tried it. Cam.

Thanks for the great response & suggestions, At first glance this may seem to be a simple 2 post thread.
I appreciate you all taking the time to write. A guy can gain years of trial and error
expeirience without all the heart ache and cost. 8-)

This is a good read. Maybe Danger should rename it "Glues to uses" and relocate it to the review section. :-D Just a thought!

i had always used yamabond until one day they were out of it. i was told the ThreeBond 1194 was the same stuff so i picked some up and have ben using it ever sens. works just as good a yamabond. looks like yamabond setup like yamabond if i put both in a neural tube you would not be able to tell what is what.
-
I think all the hondabond yamabond and so on are all the same stuff and not to long ago I got some motorcycle case sealer made by permatex from the auto parts store, again the same stuff.
-
I'm a yamabond guy, been using it for what seems like forever, I'm sure there are other brands as good, I've had great luck so I see no reason to change.
-
Hondabond is what I've used, I like it.

Yamabond4 is what I always use. Great stuff. Messy stuff but it works. Multi use sealant.

Can you replace (125 1991) wet-side crank seal without splitting the case?

Should be able to. You destroy the old seal removing it. I have no direct experience with this year and motor but have done many others. Cam.
