Title: Need Your Input
Post by: wreck-n-roll rik on January 11, 2009, 02:32:27 PM
It is sleding season here in Minnesota, and a good one at that with 12K logged already and 1/3 of it back country/boondacking. I did bring the Kx home out of storage to work on.  I have a 1994, the motor/carb/clutch gone through, IMS Tank added (I do not ike runninig out of fuel).  Now I need to start thinking about tires and new chain and sprocket/s and looking for your suggestions.  Current tires are a Dunlop K490 Sports 80/100-21 up front and a Bridgstone Motocross M78 110/90-19 in the rear.  My current sprocket set is a 14/49.  I ride trails in Northern Minnesota, lots of rock, roots, clay and mud, single trail some times but mostly run with a group of wheeler till I'm board.  What tire would you recommend and is there a better gearing set up - I'm fairly happy witht he current geariing but looking for Input anybody riding up northern Minnesota next year send me a PM and meet up.

Millvilles were the best for my K5.  The best thing I did was to take the 490 off the front. Cam.

i run 14/49 renthal all the way around, but it eats my chain guard blocks.  13/47 would be like 14/50 ish and give you the same low end torque and drop your top speed. [some one correct me if im wrong there please]
im on simular terrain and am going to run dunlop 952's fr. and rear for the first time this spring... most expensive tire set ever!  good thing not on my dime :-o :-D
