I was wondering what jetting do you guys use? I have no idea what main jet i should try with my 1991 kx125. It now starts to bog at 11k. I currently have 162 jet and pro circuit pipe installed. I noticed that some jets had differences even tough they were identical? Does anyone know where to get good jets to 35 PWK? :-P
-
Pro circuit doesn't show the 91. "92 says 162, but '90 says 158. Clip on the 2nd position, 1 1/2 turns out. You gotta be close.

Is it Sudco.com? I think that where some of these guys go for jetting stuff but never gone there myself.

Here's The link to the Pro Circuit Jetting chart for your perusal.
http://www.procircuit.com/jettingspecs.htm#1991
And here's some help on jetting basic stuff. There's a few variables to consider as I'm sure you know, however hang in there.
The differences you are seeing in the "Same" jets are usually a quality control thing. I may suggest staying with keihin jets as they will be alot more consistant.
(they have the drunken star stamped on the side)

Sudco has parts lists and such. Last time I ordered I was told they were going to a "minimum" order on jets and needles etc. you may want to call before you place an order as not to be surprised when you get the bill.
Snoop around their catalog (its a big file) there is lots of goodies avail.

I still cant see jetting chart for my 1991. It shows 1990 and 1992.
I found out that my local dealer seems to sell proper keihin jets. Is that "the drunken star" in the picture?
(http://xs434.xs.to/xs434/08523/keihin_main_jet744.jpg) (http://xs.to)
Picture is just an example.
It would be nice to see the chart for '91. I think i now got a good reference point and it seems that my jetting might be close to right. I just need to get good quality jets.:-P
Thanks for your help.

Yep, thats the keihin star, Did the bike run O.K. before you put the pipe on?
Did you jump up from the stock main, and how much has the weather changed since you made the mods to the bike?
Do you have any other needles or just stock one that came with the carb.
Just kind of brainstorming, not trying to sound overbearing.. :| (I'm not very good at "wordsmithing" and don't want to come off as a know it all or whatever...)
I'll look in my Clymer for stock jetting and do a little more snooping for some other set-ups, maybe go back to stock as a baseline and work from there, Keep a note book and one adjustment at a time and log it. I know it sounds elementary but after a day of changing things around one tends to forget where we started.
Here's the stock settings from clymer My book shows it should be a PWK 35
Hang in there. main 158 # 5 slide

Hey!
Thanks for stock jetting info. Just that i needed. Im going to order a set of main jets and pilot jets in order to get my bike running right. BTW does "free-flow" filters work at all? I was considering to replace my stock airfilter thing with a pipercross or uni filter. I know it wont work as good as stock on track but im riding mainly on road.
I noticed that sudco has rebuild kits for PWK 35mm. I think im going to order one and a new float. Any experiences about rebuid kits? Are they worth of buying? Or shall i order parts that i need individually.
Thanks guys!

Does anyone know how to convert OEM Kawasaki needles to exact Keihin ones? Mine says N0EJ. My needle is worn out, so it needs to be replaced.

J,
Here is a link to what appears to be an Excel spread sheet to convert oem needles to
keihin stock needles. Unfortunately I can't figure how to get it to work on my 'putor.
Maybe a savy computor guy could help us out.... This would eliminate the guesswork
in trying to cypher the conversion.

I'll keep working on it...

Sorry J,
The excel worksheet doesn't cover Kawasaki needles.
You could give these guys a call,

I would highly recommend getting the book, there is stuff for new guys and engine builders alike. (or search the book in amazon  )

Thanks buddy!
I think im gonna email them and ask about the needle. I tried today to measure my needle and didnt get any usable information.

Guys at Sudco couldnt help me with the needle. They said that N0EJ is the Keihin mark but it is a multi taper needle only available to the OEMs, so they didnt have an equivalent.
I wonder is there a "how to measure your needle" tutorial or something? A book with that kind of information would be worth to buy.
-J
-
At the top of the needle page there is a diagram on what the measurements are.
You should be able to use this to find an equivelant or "close".
http://www.sudco.com/vol33/135-136.pdf
Here's another site that says they may to be able to get discontinued OEM carb parts.

Well, the problem is, i dont know how to measure that thing. To me, it just doesnt seem to have that "L1" straight section at all. I can measure or calculate the taper. And where to get that diameter measured? 8-)
Is that L1 lenght from first clip to the point where needle diameter is 2,515 mm?

J,
Would it be possible to send them your needle and let them match up a replacement?
(Either carb parts or sudco)
That way there should be no mistake or calculating necssesary. (one would hope)
