I Know this has already been Posted but I am still having trouble with these was wondering if anyone could help
Double lipped jumps are jumps with a rut near the top that creates a second lip to the jump face. Think of it as a jump with a single whoop on top. Every time I try jump one of these I nearly get bucked over the bars or I land way sideways. I hit the jump at a fair speed with my weight as far back as i feel comfortable but my bike just nose dives.
any help would be appreciated :? ?????

Is there any way you can clear the "lip"? Load your suspension more just before takeoff and physically "jump" over it. It'll either work or you'll belong to the OTBC. :-D

These are a wreck waiting to happen. I avoid it if I can. If not, line up right on it and steady gas, instead of a big burp. Let the bike come up to you like a whoop, and be ready to give it some body english and no matter what happens, gas saves it. Almost always. Even the best riders, can wipe out on this kinda deal. I treat them like whoops and try to stay low instead of preloading, but have wrecked it still.
This is a good reason to pick alternate lines. If just out play riding, its best to fix it, or move over a foot. Or like Good said sometimes, you can purposely jump off the first one, especially if it means a easier/faster landing.

Use a higher gear, your rear wheel will want to chew through the kicker instead of kicking off of it. Or leave a steady throttle on a little longer off the jump than normal. Practice.

The double lips aren't my favorite kind if jump but earlier today i tried it in 3rd full tap and it worked way better than previous attempts still a bit of nose dive action but nothing serious. Do you think the jump would be better attempted after a bit of rain or dry?

I finally got these jumps worked out :-D today's attempts were all perfect 4 out of 4. I didn't get kicked over my bars and I didn't nose dive. I think the trick is gas it about 1/2 way up the first lip then gas it again at the top of the first lip this launches the bike over the second lip so your back wheel doesn't hit it and you don't get kicked over the bars. Its working for me but I would still like to improve on these any more thoughts would be GREAT :-D

Thanks for sharing, Kawikid. I think I have learned 90% of my riding skills from discussions about deals like this, and somehow instantly put it into action as a reaction when the time comes. Alot less has been me figuring it out with repetition. You are making a solid approach to developing your skills. Keep posting.

I haven't been riding long nearly a year so I'm trying to ride every chance ready for the 2009 race season and all these discussions help me out in learning new skills. I find I learn most of my riding skills riding with more experienced riders and watching what they do
