The colored rims look cool when they are new but I stick with aluminum/silver because mine get all scratched up from changing tires.  We had a Tech day at the shop where I work (cool boss) and my friend changed tires.  His black rims show the scratches from 20 feet.

Danger is right,
When I wrenched tires onto my cbr900 it was a pain having to build bead protectors so that I would not scratch the rims. You can do it, it just slows down the tire changing time. Cam.
