This guy is going for 140 mph,
http://www.f2racing.net/Steve-Hengeveld-and-F2-break-records-s/519.htm
-
that 140 is a long way off and that hardly a dirt bike any more
quote from the article
Gearing is 15/47 and it runs 115mph on the street or 108-110 on the dirt depending on traction
baja KX5's run that full fenders and monster nobs
-
i missed this article 123.465 a "class record"
http://www.f2racing.net/THE-WORLD-S-FASTEST-DIRT-BIKE-s/395.htm (http://www.f2racing.net/THE-WORLD-S-FASTEST-DIRT-BIKE-s/395.htm)

but how much mph did you make BDI ?
-
does anybody know the currant record for the moddified 500cc class that racing
-
I'm game, does anyone have a 30 tooth rear sproket. If my bike does 105 on the dyno with stock gears than 125 to 135 should be no problem. Hell it revs out 5th in the sand.

130mph or so would'nt be a big problem. I'm sure I did 110 to 115 mph with 15/43 gearing on the beach and could pull much taller gearings.

Wasnt the KTM 495 stock, when measured at 120+?

awesome vid on that site :-o
got to have guts for such a speed on a dirtbike :-P
-
what all can you do and still run P/P?
at what point do you become M frame and MPS frame type?
what is the max amount of work that can be done to a P type engine?
-
stock appearing no pipes stock carb etc, must be no bigger than 500cc ,,they ran the same motor in the modd class with same pipe and carb ,,i thought that was great
-
bbb
A P/P bike is a production frame / production engine entry. The bike must look exactly like it did on the show room floor with the exception of the tires and handlebars.
A production engine must have the stock carb with stock venturi, unmodified chamber and exhaust, unmodified airbox, and run non-oxygenated gasoline.
In addition to the P/P bike, we ran in both the Modified Partial Streamlining Class and the Modified Class with a Production Engine.....MPS/P and M/P
The MPS class allows for streamlining in front of the rider, while the M class prohibits it.
In all three classes we ran under the power of the motor Stewart prepared for us. Keep in mind the course is five miles long, run at WFO. The first two miles are to get up to speed, then a timed mile, and finally two miles to shut down.
Our speeds were not measured in a 'speed trap radar gun', but are timed averages over a 'flying' mile. We streched the throttle cables for five solid miles at 4400 plus feet of altitude and Stewart's motor always pulled strong!
It is very imprtant to point out this was a team effort. My name is on the bike, but it took all the guys in Milwaukee to build a rolling frame for the motor Stewart and Dave put together!
Please keep checking back to the blog page for additional updates about this year's event as well as our plans for next year.
Thanks

One more thing....It has been a very busy few weeks for everyone involved with this project.
Please keep asking questions, but have a bit of patience if I don't respond right away.
There is at least a month's worth of exciting posts and new KX5 developments and it is probably going to take me two months to type it all out!
It will be worth it....all the KX5 dreamers and riders better get ready to re-adjust their lust and/or need lists!

This was a "dirt bike" no porting, no street tires, no streamlining ect. ect...... just a pure dirt bike.....
I'm not trying to be a jerk just want to make a fair comparison.
I live in Utah and would love to come see you guys run the next time, If I'm welcome LOL. and if you need help with anything while you're here let me know, I can fix just about anything and can TIG, MIG, plasma ect.
-
that is a great article and im sure that was a very fast bike ,, but i would have like to seen it run at bonniville,,,

Hey Mitch
My shop manual/notebook has a copy of the F2 Dirtbike article in the front cover and the KTM on the back. Both covers will remain unchanged and will definitely continue to motivate me over the winter.
We had a great year at Bonneville and I am really excited about the team we have put together. Stewart built a great motor for the bike. The aerodynamic ideas paid off. Everyone in Milwaukee made it happen. Best of all, everyone rode safe and had a great time!
Instead of argueing the differences in altitude, the natural margin of error in stopwatch timing procedures, the difference in surface conditions, the stress of a flying mile, the roll out of a giant knobby, etc......
Until roughly two weeks ago The World's Fastest Dirt Bike had a documented top speed of approxiatemately 121 m.p.h. In less than a week the speed had increased more than 9 miles an hour to 130+ m.p.h. By the end of the week the bar was raised to 132.444 m.p.h......127.523 m.p.h. without any front fairings.
I have no doubt that 133 and 128 will be surpassed within the year!
Mark
p.s. As the guy that 'tucked' behind OEM radiator shrouds and rode a safe, fat motor to 117.529 m.p.h., you can believe that I can taste 124+ m.p.h.
-
no mater how you put it 100+ on a dirt bike or atv is fassst.when i rode it on the sunday before the bonneville run i increased my speed each time making sure the bike didn't do any thing stupid. i rode a street bike one time that had dif. forks on it and it was fine to 115 and let off it , but when i ran it up to 120 mph i rode it from white line to white line . just 5 mph and i was getting ready to ditch it after a mile or more of side to side. but like we say put it on here and put it on video. less talk more action . :-D :-D :-o think abouit this the motor held togetter for more than a mile wfo. wooooo thank goodness. lol
-
That is the thing right there. the KTM MIGHT be able do do the speed but the chances of it holding together are slim to none.
-
i bet my exwife the KTM wouldn't turn that speed. hope im wrong . :-D :-D :-D
-
Hey everyone
There is an early Dirt Bike magazine online race report from the guys at F2 Racing. There is a direct link to it from www.wolbrinkrace.blogspot.com.
I know how hard it was to get the KX5 to Bonneville. I can't begin to imagine how much harder it would be with all those 'extra' pieces hando puts in the CRF motor!?!?
Seriously, Simon and Hengeveld seemed to be really nice guys and were great competitors!
They have earned and deserve respect for what they have done on the salt.
Mark
-
I don't think I understand all the information correctly. The F2 guys have the record with an average of just over 130 on a 450? I don't get it... :?
-
they do not have the any records at this time,, they are rounding up there speed numbers and not being upfront with the truth ,,the record in there class was set by a k5 ,,,and they could have stayed and ran just like anybody ,,,mark and kevin my hats off to you guys 1st for good sportsmanship and honesty ,,,and 2nd,,,, record setting speed and stick with till you done style..i am glad to be involved with people like that ...they make there own luck,,not a list of excuses or whining half truths,,, stewart
-
gre8t job mark and all who helped. stay until the last man ran . hard to complain when you left early. maybe they knew they rung it out as far as they could this year. well i am sure they had a good reason for leaving early. :-o / but like they say it anit over till the fat lady sings and my ex is in fl. :-o
-
So, to tie it all up, what's the actual record, who holds it, and is it an average?
-
on page 2 of this post mdw 471 posts the 3 records they set on the k5 this year
-
Nothing is official until it is posted by the BUB people....believe me, Stewart and I are getting anxious to say the least!
The rule says....The record speed must be the average of two runs over the same piece of real estate with-in the same calendar day. The return run is the oposite direction of the down run.
The speed is an average over a full flying mile. Automatic timers at the start and end of the mile are tripped by the wheels. A computer does the math and prints out a timeslip.
The way it worked...If your down run was fastest enough then you waited a few minutes to an hour in impound. When there were four or five bikes ready to try their return runs we would be sent out to mile 8 and then race back to the original starting line.
Production Frame / Production Engine record was 112ish.
My big tail ran down at 117.529 and back at 110.516 for a record average of 114.0225
by the way, i entered the timing mile at 116.861 on the return run and coasted through at 110.....anyone guess what happened!?!
Modified Partial Streamlining Frame and Production Record
This is the class F2 racing was competing in. They had set a record of 121 last year and started to run around in magazine articles and the internet with the phrase "The World's Fastest Dirt Bike"
According to the run logs, F2 had their last runs and recorded their best times on Wednesday. a 131.829 and a 129.52. Their average and the record that stood from Wednesday to Saturday was 130.674.
We spent a couple of days calling Stewart and tuning the motor. On Saturday morning, Kevin rode a 130.418 down and then backed it up with a 132.444 for a new record of 131.413 m.p.h.
Early Sunday, we took off all the streamlining on the front of the bike a set a new Modified Frame Production Engine record of 123.4115. There was nearly a five mph headwind so the run times were pretty different.....127.523 and a 119.300.
I still want to see it in BUB print, but around my house the World's Fastest Dirt Bike is sitting under my roof and is green!

Let me see if I understand this correctly they made one run and then packed there s**t and went home after they realized there was another bike that was going to go faster then them. I guess no one can say you got beat if you don't run.
Wrong.
The first day we were there, Simon came up and introduced himself. He was happy that we had brought another dirt bike. He started to get more interested when I ran a 117 in MX trim.
That afternoon, Hengeveld came up to us in the pre-stage line and knew what year my K5 was. He was laughing about the crazy green and purple jerseys he wore back in the day.
The two teams started talking / checking up on each other two or three times a day. Watching each other run and listening for speed anouncements over the radio.
I can assure you they showed up and ran. These guys are racers, not internet pundits. They HATE to lose!
In my opinion, there is a line at the edge of the salt. It take footsteps not keystrokes to cross that line. Everyone that crossed it had to put out tremendous effort to just get there.
F2 Racing and Hengeveld did their best.
This year my team beat them.
Any implication that they packed up and ran diminishes our accomplishment!
Mark
-
Mark, you have some of the most honorable and intelligent posts and that was exactly what I was looking for. Thank you for that. I am truly excited for you all about everything that was accomplished and can't wait to see what you have on the table for increase. Fuel injection maybe? Lightened setup? (I weigh 145ish! :-D )
I would venture to guess either you ran out of gas or you forgot to turn the gas on on your return trip. Been there many times. :-D
:? I am dumbfounded, however, at the thought that they can get enough power out of a 450 fourstroke to even come close to the mighty kx5 twostroke, and they were very close. Too close for comfort. What in the world did they have done to that thing? :?
-
mark ran a k5 moter in that passed the tech of a stock class and ran the same moter in the moddified class same stock pipe same stock carb etc,, there is a lot left on the table, power wise.. the f2 guys did a great job in my opinon with there highly moddified 4 stroke 450 that i understand may be a 495 or so cc moter ,,,to me the lesson out of that is a very highly moddified 4 stroke would have a hard time out running a stock good running 2 stroke of the same size
-
Can you run data acquisition in stock class and does the motor has to be pure stock from the factory.
-
stock appearing stock carb stock pipe stock air box mark could tell u on the data acquisition

My bad some of the statements I read made it sound that way.
-
quote from the F2 article
So even if someone came along after we left and beat us, we still have the worlds fastest 450 R and 450 X for the time being.
and there web page has changed from world fastest dirt bike to worlds fastest CRf's
now are they done running the salt for new records or building a new bike? because this is whats on the front page of there web site
The worlds fastest Honda CRF450 R is for sale for $8500.
Just back from Bonneville this week, this 2007 Honda CRF 450R went an amazing 132mph and will be signed by its rider, Baja 1000 champion Steve Hengeveld!
If you are interested in having your own turn key bonneville racer give us a call.
Price $8500
Call us at 928.814.6710
mdw471 from your stories the F2 guy sound like a good group of competitors. do you think they will be upping it for next year or throwing in the towel?
-
some one could call and ask,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,
-
I would bet the f2 guys are upping thier bike. cant see them giving up that easy. they did a good job . that is one fast 4 poke. I have a 700 kfx , but will never sell the quadzilla. k5 transplant in the future ( not stock ether ) . Mark ran on the fuel that the salt flats crew req. 110 i believe. I liked the f2 areo front end , how about a ZX14 front fairing next year Mark!!! The zx14 was built using a wind tunnel , should work good on anything.
-
hmmmmmmmmmmmm......next year,
K5abuser,
the ZX has a measured coefficent of drag of ~0.603 while a busa slips in at ~0.561.
first off.....the Cd scale is from zero to one. I believe anything below 0.750 is purpose built.
the tough thing is that a difference in Cd of 0.042 represents a strong 7% difference!
in other words......70 hp verses 75 hp!
We will see!
Mark
-
next year ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,ah twelve more months to make more ,,, power ,,,
-
ug uggg mor poweer. the need . the need for speed. on its way.
-
the ZX has a measured coefficent of drag of ~0.603 while a busa slips in at ~0.561.
I was thinking the same thing... :-)
-
remember boys and grils . It ani't fast unless its kx 500 powered. he was hualing azz when i went past him on one wheel. or did i slide pass him. oh well he was fast. lol
-
The ZX-14 also uses a ram-air type induction intake on front end.
(from Kawasaki.com ZX-14)
"Ram Air Induction.
- Central Ram Air duct produces a straighter path to the airbox for maximum intake efficiency
- This system takes cooler, high-pressure air from in front of the fairing and guides it through the air cleaner and into the engine for maximum power output"
Is there a way to figure out [using math] if the size of the opening in the fairing at 130mph would overcome the intake velocity being drawn into the carb ??

Tuck
my opinion about Ram Air Induction.....at least so far!
in-line four cylinder motors take 4 little 187cc/250cc sips of air for every large 500cc gulp of say a tl1000 or a kx500.
The graph of a manometer placed in the tl1000 airbox shows vicious 'pulses' of low and high pressure in the airbox
compared to
the in-line fours gradually building airbox pressure as three digit speeds increased.
What say you Tuck.....any exeperience with pressurized airboxes?

In addition to the beautiful P/P KX500 shot that I have selected in the link, there are hundreds of other shots that give a tase of what the event is like.

Mdw,
I think you might find this article of some interest. (it is a bit dated, but valid I think)
http://www.sportrider.com/tech/146_9508_ram/index.html
I understand the Helmholtz effect of the intake tract/ports cylinder charging, exhaust and all, and the cost would be crazy to engineer a workable "Tuned" induction for max hp./rpm at whatever Stewart would build the engine for.
As a very loose rule of thumb, just compare the dynamic pressure at the speed you're travelling against atmospheric ambient.
Dynamic pressure = 0.5 * density * speed^2
120mph ~ 54m/sec
density ~1.225 kg/m^3
the dynamic pressure at 120mph is about 1800Pa.
Atmospheric ambient will be somewhere around 101300Pa, so about 1.8% 'more air'.
So not a lot, but some. Thats why the guys in the article saw the hp go up with speed.
I'm not for sure, but what could Stewart do with 1.8% more air forced in the engine.
Just a thought... :?

Congratulations on a job well done. I know first hand how hard it is to compete and be successful on the salt. It looks much easier on the internet sidelines. For most, success is just getting there. Having a trophy or two on the shelf is.... priceless!
I gotta ask, why wouldn't say a Yamaha RZ500 own all of the 500cc records?
-
the rz500 is a street bike and it is a stock class dirtbike or mod'd dirtbike.

There's a dirt bike class??? Is that relatively new?

Stewart doesn't work on those :-D

Here we go......
There's a dirt bike class??? Is that relatively new?
The competition class is defined by the frame and then the engine size. We were running in the MPS / P class because that is where the Hando guys from F2 run. The goal was W'sFDB and it just so happens that the bikes fit in the AMA's MPS/P class.

Thank you! This was absolutlely a team effort.....I couldn't be any prouder.... see 3500 and 1471! http://www.speedtrialsbybub.com/2008_event/results08.html

Ummmm true about Stewart! Considering the RZ......I bet it is twice the weight of the 3500 bike, the EPA and DOT snuffed alot of its ability, did I mention the thing is really really heavy! Also really complicated with splined crank shafts :-o
Thanks for the interest!

I checked out that link. Lots of familiar names. NHRS, Aaron Wilson, and Tim Horton are good pals of mine. Tim went down I believe.
A long time ago in a galaxy far, far away, our clan held 1000 P/PP, 1650 A/PG and M/PG. My 15 minutes of fame.

Was this with the SCTA or AMA/BUB sanctioning group? I am pretty sure the busa's have taken over the 1300cc and 1650cc classes, but the 1000 might still stand?

But MPS/P would be Modified Partial Streamline/Production Engine?..... I didn't know that class existed. No biggie, just bench racing. Their classification structure requires a jurist doctorate to follow. The important thing is having the trophy.
We ran Sportsters in the Pushrod classes. No Busa's allowed. And speaking of law degrees.... we exploited the rules book in 2002 with our 1650 Sportster and beat a turbo charged Busa for the ECTA points championship. Oh.... they were PI$$ED!
Take a look at 2002: http://www.ecta-lsr.com/?page_id=82
Believe it or not, that's a Sportster. My highest speed was 180 MPH.

This whole 'thing' started with me when I saw the guys from F2 racing bragging that they had the World's Fastest Dirt Bike. I wanted to beat the 4s and they were running MPS / P so we worked to fit whatever rules they were running.
I am really stoked that Dave and Steve from F2 are great competitors and nice guys. It is always more fun when there is a race!! We have been emailing each other about next year and it turns out they are ready for more!

For what it is worth, I believe the fastest 500cc sit-on bike was a super trick TZ ridden just a bit south of 170mph by Scott Guthrie, an extremely capable/clever LSR racer. You might remember him from Maxton???
Everyone says it, but Stewart, Dave (K5Abuser), Kevin (my driver) and I are serious ......... Wait Till Next Year!!!

This whole 'thing' started with me when I saw the guys from F2 racing bragging that they had the World's Fastest Dirt Bike.
That's sooo funny. We started racing when we heard that a group of online Moto Guzzi guys took 1000 P/PP from a Sportster. Through it all we became friends and hung out at Maxton with them. We also made friends with Aaron Wilson of NHRS and the Team Elves gang. People flew in from Austrailia and Europe when we were racing. We'd all meet at Aarons house in Denver and tune on his dyno. Some of the best memories I have.
For what it is worth, I believe the fastest 500cc sit-on bike was a super trick TZ ridden just a bit south of 170mph by Scott Guthrie, an extremely capable/clever LSR racer. You might remember him from Maxton???
I know Scott Guthrie pretty well. He gave me some pretty good pointers. Things that he didn't share with just anyone. He appreciated us as an underdog, I believe. He'd stop by our pit and I'd suck up every word he said. The most important theme was 'aerodynamics.' It's every bit as important as HP.
Aaron Wilson is probably every bit as capable as Guthrie. He predicted his first pass down the salt to within 1 MPH and took the record. No one does that by accident.
Everyone says it, but Stewart, Dave (K5Abuser), Kevin (my driver) and I are serious ......... Wait Till Next Year!!!
But of course!
We sold T-shirts online and cleared around $15,000.00 dollars. Buy 'em for $6 and sell them for $12 or nice golf shirt and ball cap coffee mug for $100. We had a graphic artist in our group draw up the designs. I was a fund raising FIEND.

wow gwcrim how cool to have the chance to talk to the pioneers of our sport and to be able to see just how smart some of the guys were and the things they came up with ( stewart ) & ( no computers or wind tunnels) . Some learned the hard way .How lucky for you to have that rare knowledge and you are here to share it with us . go ahead we won't tell anyone :-D . its like saying i saw big daddy don garllets run the 1/4 and all the old guys . tony alva thought me how to skate board but i didn't know who he was ( movie :the lords of dog town the Z boys ) till 4 years ago . he was the one that started the pool riding .so kodus to you and may the knowledge benefit you and us . just your close personal friends .

Just a comment tossed from the hip...Spectro Oil colors are blue and yellow, Adam Bomb is sort of a olive green, Glenn Curtiss Motorsports is blue and black. The Wolbrink Race logo is black on black.
the Team Green guys didn't help much, in fact they "wished" I wasn't doing this on the KX, "now if we were to use a currently available retailable bike that would be a different story."
Sorry to dissapoint, but I am not sure lime green would be fair to everyone that did step up and help!

I have convinced Stewart and K5A that is all about the motor!!!

i know its not about the moter its the whole packge rider .. team .. areo..etc ,,, motors just 1 part,,,

The Modified bike looks great. It's obvious you guys put some thought into the chassis and body work.
It's strange to see a dirt bike on the salt with full fenders and all. Did the front fender wag and wobble at speed? It looks a bit smaller than the one on my bike. Are you sure it was STOCK??? :-D
-
According to my GPS I went 76.6 mph on my K5, on the highway, flat ground, non DOT knobbies, and it had more throttle, but I let off. The faster I go the more the road looks like a belt sander. I can't imagine going over a hundred on my bike. 76.6 was scary to me and the bike felt loosey goosey. I balance my wheels and I have a steering dampener but it felt like it could go into high speed handle bar slapping the tank wobble.
-
Hey Mark, did you balance your tires and all?
-
Hey Mark, did you balance your tires and all?
Absolutely!
Wheel assemblies where statically balanced and then double checked with a dynamic balancer.
76.6 was scary to me and the bike felt loosey goosey. I balance my wheels and I have a steering dampener but it felt like it could go into high speed handle bar slapping the tank wobble.
In the attached photo I was able to stretch or squish and move my tail forard and back maybe an inch, not more. Moving forward and back within that inch changed the weight balance enough that the front end would start to waltz.
http://www.scootershoots.smugmug.com/gallery/6013406_4JM7d#377166360_P9m7L-XL-LB
Also, at speed a too tight damper can cause wobblies....try loosening it to one click from off.
Hey look at the heat ripples coming out of the exhaust in the larger photo!! The photo is a down run midway between the timing points..... at 117 mph!
I have never tested this idea, but I wonder if the tire pressure typically run in knobbies would allow an aweful lot of centrifical stretch of the tire sidewall. All that extra material has to do something....maybe wobble?!?
Mark
-
117 mph stock ???
-
Maybe if someone makes a run with their tires pumped up real hard to counteract this, and then compare that run with a low pressure run. I know mine likes to bounce around at high speeds.
-
117 mph stock ???
Pretty Cool huh?!?
117.529 m.p.h. over a flying mile.....I carry the timeslip in my wallet.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SvGCE1ZzCag&feature=related
Stewart tuned the motor to run with a stock carb and exhaust and burn regular 110 leaded race gas
The bike was geared somewhere past the moon. A lot of effort was also spent on reducing rolling / mechanical resistance.
Mark

I did my little speed run on the way back to camp. Allot of the knobs had chunks cut out of them because of the rocky conditions of our 10 hour ride. I kind of wiggled the bars to see how stable the bike was and it did not feel safe at all. I'll try the damper at one click, with the DOT dual sport tires. I think 80 is all I want to achieve.
-
Think i'm gonna try mine...gps i spose. My bike is modded, & it is wicked sick.
Gonna be interesting.
Always safety in mind ofcourse....i've been 120 on some of my modded 650 thumps...& felt comfortable....we'll see how comfy the K-5 is.
I'll post exactly what i get.
-
the tires grow at speed and when the pressure is low it allows the bike to drift ( like when you ride in the sand . you let the bike go where it wants and just ride don't fight ) .danger check you head stem bearings for tightness. if it lossens up it can cause that to . maybe drop your forks up in the triple tree clamps about a half inche.. or send it to me and i will ride it till i find the problem . ill ride it easy . promise

What parts have to remain on the bike in order for it to qualify as a dirtbike?
Just wonderin like
Engine, frame, and subframe or does it still have to have the same wheels and forks?

Well......this started when I saw the F2 guys promoting their Honda CRF as the W'sFDB at 121mph. With Stewart working on the motor and myself on the body/frame, we followed the F2 guys lead and ran in the same class.
As far as what defines a dirt bike or iron head harley or busa or XXXXX.....this is an especially tough question in LSR. It seems that a few things are 'socially' required for a bike to be considered something other than a purpose built land speed bike.
Firstly, 500 units need to be manufactured and available for sale. This keeps a works tz250 from slapping around an rd250lc.
The engine and frame should be from the same manufacture.
Finally, often competitors try to keep something unique or specific to the bike. I kept the stock tank and radiator shrouds. Everyone recognized it was a dirt bike, but very few knew how big the engine was.
Keep in mind the competition rules don't care what anyone 'calls' the bike. My comments are directed toward the arguement of once you stretch the swing arm, lower the suspension, and put a different seat on it is not a dirt bike anymore.
What about hill climbers, dirt track bikes, or dune bikes??
Mark
as a side note......I am happy we bettered 'the 124mph KTM' Last year the F2 guys went 121 and reported getting tons of hate email and links to the KTM page!

I would like to come play with you guys next year but I have a very hard time figuring out the rules I went to the website you gave me but things seemed very vague to me. It discouraged me from going this year. I don't have a problem backing my engine down in ccs but I didn't think I could run my bike in that class because my bike is a 250 with a 500 motor in it. Or can I because my bike is a kawasaki chassis with a kawasaki engine.
-
The rules are pretty liberal in LSR racing except for the Production class. Production rules are quite strict but pretty simple. The bike must appear as it was produced. Period.
Other than that, you can do darn near anything to fit in any class you wish. Depending on the sanctioning body, there are different engine classes i.e. 'pushrod' or 'two stroke'.
For fuel, you can run in 'Gas' class or 'Fuel' classificatoin. If you run 'Gas' you must buy the fuel from the track vendor and have tank sealed. 'Fuel' is anything goes. Alky, nitro, moonshine.......
Chassis classes are 'Production', 'Modified', and 'Altered'. Altered has wheel base, fuel capacity and a few other restrictions. Modified is more for a souped up bike with stock chassis parts.
Then there is the aero package. If you have aero devices forward of the rider, it's 'Partial Streamlined' or PS.
My bike was able to run in 4 chassis classes by adding or removing a fairing. Since I ran, they've tightened the rules a bit to stop guys like me from hopping classes so easily. Obviously, I've left out lots of fine print, but that's the basics.
-
So would I be able to run my bike :?
