:-D im thinking about getting into vmx racing over here as its getting quite big over here, i have my eye on 2 1985 kx 500s have any of you guys had one ,or no if they have any major flaws, the are in excelent condition with pro circuit pipes, the main class here is pre 86. cheers for any info.

hi the 85 kx500 is a great bike 8-)
it was designed by kent howerton
and was made small in size
no power valve the fastest standard 500 made 40 mm carb boost bottle mmmmm :-P
no real problems except the shock rocker arm
was prone to breaking :cry:
i broke one in 1985
and i broke one last year leading a vets race on her
racing against all the modern 4 strokers :cry:
they are fairley rare over here only 35 were imported to australia :-o
i think ther are quite a few in the usa :-D

cheers for that will check the swing arm rocker, there was an 1984 one i missed out on i think it went to aussie it was mint $4300 nz

yeah i have a 83 as well they are great
but for overall package the 85 is better :-D
heres a picture of mine its a bit different
came frome europe ex gp bike not works
but has a works barrel 8-)

yeah vmx is pretty big here
that meeting was a legends demo race
at the australian championships (moderns)
i think there were 5 kx500s some cr500s and yz490s
about 17 of them all 500s :-P
sounded good going around
mainly all ex champs riding them 8-)
we just had a vmx meeting
165 riders over 300 bikes unreal :-D

Aren't they cool lookin' though! Oh man... I remember longingly staring at them while I was paying my dues at the time on an old '78 Husky 125 CR.
