When I changed to ATF Dexron 111 there was no change in clutch slack. Nor can I imagine fluid of any type causing friction disc thickness change.
Hope you get yours figured out soon.

You have other issues non related to the ATF. I ran ATF in my 500 for a few years with great results. Running it in my YZ250 at this time. Great stuff.

Site's running super slow for me; can hardly do searches. But I dug this thread up in a search for more info on running ATF F Trans oil instead of 10W-40. I was curious to see what some of the more percipient members on here are running in their bikes.

I've never tried ATF...and don't intend to....but I did run Bel-Ray Gear Saver for YEARS, but it gets expensive when you're changing it every 2-4 rides(because I'll only run aluminum plates)...since my last rebuild two months ago...I'm back to 10W-40.
I have no info about ATF, so I don't know if it works good or not.

EDIT...did you read this thread?..

had type f foam up at over 100 mph and blow out the vent and countershaft sprocket seal and on one more ride after that .  Went back to Amsoil 10w40 and have not had any more problems.  Could have been a fluke, but, not going to chance it running higher speeds.

Occasionally I use ATF for one ride, to clean things up, due to the detergent. Don't know if it works but I don't trust it for all the time. 10/40 ams spring/fall 20/50 summer.

So I'm replacing my clutch this weekend. I've been using cheap 10W-40. Some one was telling me that I should only use MOTORCYCLE OIL because there are additives in some oils that help cars but make our clutches slip. Shrug Smh.... Any truth to this?

I myself have never had a problem with a clutch slipping from using regular motor oil..meaning non-synthetic, but times have changed over the years...and yes you should pay attention at what you're buying.
if you look in the manual...it will say to run 10W-30 or 10W-40...either one is acceptable...
like all the others that replied...Ams-Oil 10W-40
