Hello everyone,
I need some info. I have a buddy whos looking for a dirtbike. He knows a farmer who has an 89 KX500. I haven't seen the bike and I don't know the condition but he said the bike runs. My buddy says this farmer will give him the 89 KX500 for free!! :-o (title included). Is the 89 a good version of the KX500? What about parts availability? How much would an 89 in good condition be worth? Would any of you recommend an 89 to a fellow rider? :|

Its worth a lot more than he's paying for it thats for sure.
Even if its a complete nail, its still going to be worth it to sell off the spares.
Say yes, then worry about how knackered it is.
The plastics are all the same from 88 onwards and a lot of the engine parts are the same also.

Nothing more expensive than a free bike.
Mine is an '89 and it's done OK by me.
But the last free bike (and go kart) I got would have cost me more to get running than they were worth.

Dont pass it up. Worse case scenario if its no good you guys part it out and still make a decent profit. Not to mention, if you havent even seen this thing yet there is still a chance that its in pretty good shape.
