I am helping a neigbour jet his 2001 KX250. Carb has a TPS and a electronic power jet. Any differences to watch out for when jetting with the power jet carb? I haven't ridden the bike yet but he is describing what sounds to me like detonation at WOT. I went through the carb today. Settings are: 155 main 48 pilot, needle all the way down, float level was OK. This is for 2000' and low 70F temps. Manual says stock is 160/52. If someone could suggests some settings that they use it would be a big help. Also, what are the chances that the power jet is not opening? Is there an easy way to tell? Thanks. Cam.

I ran a 158 and a 48, at 3300 feet. Did you pull the power jet out to make sure it wasn't plugged? It's in the base of the carb and should screw right out. As I recall the power jet activated 4-6000 rpm and shutdown at around 8000 rpm. Any chance somebody played with the timing? maybe advanced a bit to far? I can't ever remember my 01 detonating.
