stewart Check your crank. Water might have went through the airbox, carb, cylinder and finally the crank. Oh wait will that raise or lower the compression?

Just wondering.........did you try and jump it and come up short?  Or.....try to powerplow though it?  Or....decided to skip the rest of the winter and go right into jet-ski season.  Fess up, we need the rest of the story.

Would be curious to know the results after your internal inspection.  Any water get in though the pipe?  If so, did you stand it on end ?  Better yet, how many kicks to get her restarted?

Of course, never doubted that for a second.  Now, if that had been a 4-stroke?  Hmmmm........

man i hate wild pigs. i was stationed in germany when i was in the army. i worked on a howitzer crew (somewhat like a tank but cannot shoot on the move) anywhy we'd go to the field to train and in the middle of the night you would hear them ramming vehicles and snorting. and these howitzers are made of like 1inch thick compressed aluminum bodies. crazy stupid hogs.

You have a howitzer and are surrounded by crazy stupid hogs?  Isn't the solution obvious?  Of course, that might be a bit overkill.  Then again, so is a KX 500 against any competition.

this is a howitzer. i don't think it will fit on your truck. maybe crush your truck. they got 450hp turbo desiels.  in the pic an h2 hummer/ howitzer/ ammo carrier. the second pic is something you should consider for your truck. 50 cal. swivel mounted.

Generally if you get the water out right away and restart the engine it will be fine. I have done that quite a few times.  Pull the plug, turn the bike upside down and kick all the water out. Wring out the filter and fire it up. Worst thing to do is leave the engine stopped with water inside since the water begins to rust the crank journals quite quickly. A few days with water inside and the rod journal and main bearing are toast. Cam.
