Post by: Kawasakinut on January 12, 2008, 10:20:44 AM
working on my 2000 kx 250 project and have a question are the vin #s on the frame supposed to match the motor vin because mine do not  :? if anyone can help i appreciate it. i understand that the 10th digit is the year on the frame and mine is a y so thats good so i'm just wondering if i got shafted on an abused motor.

Every bike being sold has been freshly rebuilt. Like a car has always been garage kept and only driven by an ol' lady that just used it to go to the grocery store. I like to ask for their receipts for the rebuild to verify the dates. Don't sweat it now, man. If that is a different motor, the previous owner blew up the old one and didn't sell you that one. The best thing you have goin for you is two-strokes are easy to check everything. If it has stock piston and all that, top-end kits are pretty cheap considering the advantages to having fresh compression. Not to mention the confidence factor.
