hi just bought my 1st kx 250 today, as i have only ridden trials before, can anyone tell me the best mix for the fuel in ml's of oil per litre of fuel an the best sort of oil to use! thanks

The manual (you need one)says 32:1. I use 44:1. The richer the mixture the better protection you have. The leaner the bike runs better. It kinda depends on riding style also. I would say that whatever ratio you decide to run stick with it. I run Klotz Super Techniplate. There is a wide variety of opinions about this topic. My opinion is that synthetic oils are more expensive for a reason. They work better. Don't mix oils either. If you aren't sure what's in it or you are changing brands or whatever, run the old gas out or drain it. NGK B8ES Plugs. Check out the jetting chart, oil mixture, perfomance mods and all that on search option too.

thanks for that, dont know that much about the bike really apart from its just had a full engine an gearbox rebuild an suspension servive, i guess the best place to find a manual will be ebay!

I quit dealing with Ebay. You have to take risks to get what you want. Any Kawasaki dealer will probably have the Clymer manual. Mail Order is easy also from aftermarket parts dealers. Motosport Outlet is a good one. There's a bunch of mailorder places and they all carry them.
Sweet deal man. I remember getting my '96 250. The whole first year I thought that I should have bought a 125. That thing will pull a gear forever. Its awesome when you know your bike can do things you're not willing to try. What kind of aftermarket goodies came on it?

I have a 2001 kx500 I run 50:1 using belray H1r. I like that ration very much. It seems to work for me.

staurt don't believe all the seller tells you. i bought a 2000 kx 250 and the seller said he put a fresh top end in it ( weisco piston and rings ) that turned out to be a big fat lie!!! the bike was super clean so i bought it. i say at least tear the cylinder off check its condition as well as piston and rings and crank big bearing before your in fifth gear w.o.t. and the motor abruptly seizes not good, trust me i know from experience. or you could do a full rebuild like mine inspecting everything along the way. off subject but i hope it might be useful to you.

lol....Usually when an ad says "recent top end" or "Fresh top end" or "never raced" is a lie. Always thoroughly check out the bike.
