Has anyone tried using a 12 petal v-force reed on a 250? I have noticed that the v-force cage for a KX250 uses a smaller 8 petal setup, and set-up I have for mine is 12 petal like the KX500 v-force... So does anybody know if I am making a mistake by using these? Will I lose throttle response? Or Hp? There must be a reason Moto Tassinari doesnt provide the big cage for the 250's when it obviously fits just the same... My only other option currently is a ported '91 KX250 cage with Carbon Tech 138MT petals... This is going to be used on a '98 KX250 based engine for my tecate... Any input on this would be very appreciated- Justin

try it and let us know.

I think you will lose a little bottom end hit but you will gain on top do to the greater flow and higher primary compression ratio.

try it and let us know.
It will be a week or two before I get it running... But even then I wont have a basis for comparing...

I had the twelve petal V-force II in my 250 Tecate and it worked just fine. Pretty snappy just off idle. :-D

Well I am sure they will work fine... all of the older bikes used the same reeds as the 500's... I was just thinking that maybe the 8petal set-up was superior to the 12petal for the 250's and someone might know why... Throttle response maybe? IDK.. I am gonna run them regardless as I wont know the difference since I wont have a 8 petal cage for comparison...
