Title: breaking in riding boots?
Post by: Kawasakinut on November 10, 2007, 03:30:07 AM
anyone have any suggestions on breaking in a pair of riding boots? i bought a pair of boots a bout a year ago and they are still not at all flexible in the ankle area. when i was in the army we used to wear the boots in the shower to form them and loosen them up. don't know if i should try that with 300$ boots.

I've broken in many boots.  I always soaked them and then wear them riding until they are dry.  You only need to do this once. Then oil them up and they will last forever. Cam.

The motorcycle dealer said to pour water inside them, seemed to help, but the real break in occurred while pushing a broke down Red bike out of the woods.  Actually I pushed that Red bike out of the woods many times, then I bought a green one. Never had to push it except when I ran out of gas.The boots are nice and flexible at  the ankles, thanks Red bike.

i should of just bought the alpinestars. note to self never let a salesman sway your first pick

Another "note to self" - if you plan to buy a pair of mid-range priced boots, don't try on the expensive ones. You'll end up buying the expensive ones.
