Title: User names
Post by: BDI on November 05, 2007, 04:02:32 PM
How did your user name come to be. Some of them are obviouse and some are hard to figure out Like Stewarts for example how did you come up with that one     Just kidding but seriously I look at user names and wonder, is it just something you pulled out of your butt or is it actually a nick name that your buddies stuck you with like mine is, or does it have some sort of significance.  BDI comes from a buddy of mine, I am always making things so he decided I should be BDI for Bryan Davis Industries.

In my youth I got my nick name playing with gun powder and beer.  Long story short, after the catastrophic incident my friend/neighbor started calling me Danger.  Then when StarCraft video gaming on the Internet came along someone had Danger so I went with Danger4u2.

Post by: demographic on November 06, 2007, 04:03:01 AM
When I first started mucking around in the internet I was very aware of the amount of information I was willing to give out to sites so just called myself demographic statistic (as in the kind of information some sites collected) to be awkward and after I realised that bike forums dont really collect too much in the way of information it just stuck as it was easy to remember.
I don't give out my e-mail address to sites that i think might spam the hell out of my e-mail box either and recieve almost zero spam.

The odd bit of it seems to be generated on some random e-mail address generator and gets through but its so small an amount that I am not really bothered.

Regards scott.

My name is John, I like to go fast . ( sounds like a twelve step program)   I bought the 04 KW500 because it was the fastest bike available new.  I ski very fast and I try to ride the KX as fast as I can. Johnniespeed is a name that fits me .

What up peeps, long time no see/hear!  Been monkeyin' around with somev-twin cruisers lately so I have neglected the KX club.  Was out at Dumont Sand Dunes over Halloween and was the best weather and company in a long time!   KX5 was running primo and didn't let me down, had alot of one wheel action over the weekend.

Anywayssss,  Furious is what I named my KX5 after Arigato made me think of a name for it.  Of course because the bike is "Furious".  Sly is my nickname since childhood and what my co-workers call me as well since my last name is "Sylvester"

well, at my work we have to comply with federal(msha) mine safety and health rules. so when we work on equipment we have to apply a personal paddlock on the power source with a tag stating our name. i always sign my name at work as M.D. Grover so the guys at work started calling me "maddog" because of the "M.D." . it stuck so i started using it as my username in the internet. the username maddog was already taken on alot of sites so i changed it to "maddoggy" hence my username.    Marty aka MADDOGGY

Back in the late 90's I played this online game called rainbow six.  I played a lot and ended up joining a "clan" or group of people that play together against other "clans".  Our clan was called Wild Kingdom and we all had animal names like Platypus, Toucan, SeaSlug and so on.  Since then I use that name for anything internet related and I am not Australian.

I got Arigato because it means please and thank you in Japanese.  When you eat as much sushi as I do, you end up saying it a lot.  It's also a very polite word as in "Arigato, may I finish roosting you now."

TheGDog... well... my name is G)ary D)avid Hart.  And I grew-up in a ghetto-y area as a kid, and I've been into MC'ing and Scratch-DJ'ing since forever-and-a-day.  They are one of my loves/passions.

I state the name as "The"GDog to denote that I'm the original.  I've claimed the name since like '91 or '92.

Unfortunately there are a ton of fake-a$$ wanna-bee's that want to feel cool and have their "Gangsta" nick-names that they use with each other... so virtually anyone with a name that begins with a G has been using GDog.  There was even this fag dude that had that domain name.  You can imagine just how happy I was about that.

I've recently started using TheGDizzo in an attempt to have the psuedonym stand-out and be easy to find on the Internet.

iamsofaking comes from a really stupid joke that my uncle told me when I was 12.  For some reason it came to me as I was coming up with a username for something and it is usually available, so it is my default.  I don't like trying a lot of usernames when I sign up for a site.

Ahh, ....I'm totally uncreative.

Actually, I decided based on consistancy (plus I'm lazy).  If I made up a new name for each ID, forum, webpage, log-in, and identity, I'd never remember them all.  They all have different uses (work, jobsearch, banking, personal ID, recreation, etc.) so something funky wouldn't work across the board for all.
Plus all of the names I thought up sounded funny at teh time, but kinda tacky after a year or so.  Coming up with new ones each year goes back to #1 above.

Barry

P.S. I DO enjoy everyone else's creativity, though.  Some names and sigs are really good.

My wife is an anthropologist.  We were talking about this dude that had really heavy eye brow ridges above his eyes.  She said the super orbital torei is more pronounced in males than in females.  I said cool, superorbital is a cool name, I think I will use it.  And then I asked what a super orbital torei is?  She said it is the scientific name for brow ridges.

After hanging out at the track with guys half my age, I suddenly realized it happened, I was officially "Old". I remember looking at the Top Vet (30 plus) riders, whipping up on the 125A, 250A guys & thinking how can they still be so fast at THAT age!!! Well Vet years have come & gone. I don't carry my AMA card anymore, but will be carrying an AARP card soon. It also sounds like I am in good Company here on this forum (KXCam Maico days, Danger No air time, Stewart I think we have the same amount of hair, mine is more gray).

Trying to dissociate myself with my email address and the forum name I normally use. Why? Just not good to be so trackable and I had to start somewhere. Might say something controversial or immature and have it come up on a google search by an employer etc...

Anywho, this is a name I made up for AIM and hotmail atleast 10 years ago. Sort of means, "Oh, I see nothing" Good fallback when I get fussed at for not using the search function :D

Mine is kind of a long story, so will try to shorten it up. Back in the early 70's  :mrgreen:we couldn't afford "real" dirt bikes, we used striped down road bikes. Some of the older rich kids had Maico's or Bultaco. My first bike cost me $50.00, got the money picking strawberries, at 0.35 cents a flat, it took a long time to make the $50 bucks. Bought an old Moto-Guzzi from the neighbor, had been sitting in his garage for at least 10 years, was real old school even for then. Had bicycle handlebars, springer front shocks and a big old flat seat with two springs underneath for support. It was a real POS but me and a couple friends got the thing running. It didn't have a key or a kill switch so to stop it I either choked it to death or would put the bike into a slide by locking up the rear wheel and leaving the clutch out. Everyone started calling me sideways because that's how I always ended up stopping, before long it progressed to slideways and the name has stuck with me for years. As ugly as that old Guzzi was I loved it finally sold the thing for $500.00.

My name was given to me by fellow drag racers in the late 90's and 2000's.  I used to run the Fun Ford Weekend and NMRA drag racing series with a 64 Fairlane and a mid 8 second 1/4 mile mustang.  I also used to own/operate a race engine shop where I had several oval track records with my engines and have had several in Popular Hot Rodding and MMFF magazines....hence the name Mr. Torque 8-)

Kind of wierd for me as I've been a Chevy guy since high school.  Set out a few years ago to buy a 67 or 68 Camaro, but they were too expensive for me at the time.  I bought a 1966 beautiful blue Mustang and really did a lot to it.  Had a Boghosian built DART 331 that put out 550hp.  Tremec 5 speed.  4.56   9 inch.  4 wheel disc brakes, etc, etc, etc.  So, I just thought I would be     "blueoval"         I am not really a FORD guy, but the name has stuck and I can remember it without much difficulty.

I came up with mine about 10 years ago, based of Snoop Doggy Dogg. I'm about the farthest thing possible from being a LBC thug. White, devote Christian farm boy turned mechanical engineer nerd from Saskatchewan, Canada. But of course, went through that phase in high school where your first car has a big stereo in the trunk, and you want to make as bass as possible, so in goes the rap CD. It started out entirely as a joke, but I maybe went a little farther with it than I needed to buying some wire wheels... and then a few more sets. I got into the lowrider scene a bit, and kinda got into driving fullsize rwd pimped out cars as my daily drivers. So inexpensive, reliable, comfy, and last forever. The 89 is my current winter beater and has 317,000 on it... the blue one is a 2008 that is barely broken in. People always look at the cars and me and say, YOU drive THAT? Well, yeah, I am Snoop Jonny Jon!

I trained in MMA when it was still sort of an underground sport. It was free at the time. But now I am too old and I was getting injured alot. I can't afford to miss work.  My name is a submission hold. It sort of fits when you hit the throttle on the KX500.

Kind of a wierd one. Well, Delphi automotive systems contracted the company I worked for to R&D Design the dc-dc converters for thier 2003 fuel cell powered BMW's(total R&D project). And I was the lead electronics technichian on the project. I spent many a long night with soldering iron in one hand and ossciloscope lead in the other to pull off making these thing operate. So I dubbed myself the Delphi Pro in the lab, and it has stuck ever since! Here I went with Delphipro500 but it wouldn't let me so it is Delphipro5.

Plus the whole greek Oracle of Delphi thing,, you know she was in a cave fortelling the future to everyone.
Then 100's years later scientists discovered an Ethylene Gas vapor was rising into the grotto causing her to hallucinate. Kind of funny to think about!

My usrname serves a twofold purpose. The main one is this. Two important people in my life have passed away. My Grandfather and My Father. My Grandfather was a coal miner who died from black lung, My Father was a pilot who died in a crash...To honor them both I came up with Coalpilot. The other is that where I live we have a lot of coal strippings where we ride...so I pilot my KX over the coal...coalpilot.

It is, but you have to remember if I am being healthy I can be "Whole Wheat Bread" or if I want to be bad I can be "White Bread".  Either way, we all need a little "Bread" in our lives, gateway or not.   :-o

My username, KE5 denotes a dream I've had for years to put a KX5 engine in a KE100 frame. Street legal, with sportbike-styled bodywork, suitable speed-rated tires and (hopefully) a disc brake on the front. I'm shooting for a sub 200 lb. wet weight, 65+ hp and 150 mph gearing. Yes, I'm crazy (and talented) enough to get it accomplished this winter. :-D I'll give it a heck of a try anyway!

Worked in aviation (still do) Brute is a brand of push tractor, among other heavy equipment machinery. Had a buddy with a bad a$$ big block '55 Chev (I had one as well) in the '70's while drag racing with a 'Brute' sticker in the back window. First KX500 (1984) I made the statement more then once, "Man, what a Brute!". They still are! I always thought it was a good description of the big 2 strokes. Liked the name.

I love anything that that has big power. Don't care what type of machine it is but if it has enough power to scare the s**t out of me I'm all about it. If i wasn't so broke I would probably build my k5 to the point that it was too fast for my own good. But for now it cures my need for speed hehe.

I actually go by two internet names.

My original "Polar_Bus"  was aquired when I joined a snowmobile RSS forum back in 1997. I worked for a Polaris dealer and I owned a '98 Polaris XC700 sled. "Polar Bus" is a nickname many people use for Polaris Snowmobiles.

My other user name is "Road_Clam"  and it's just a humorous term as my attitude towards all my street driven powersports toys.

my name is based on the crazy film "frezno smooth" that i bought at a race  ... in a szene the judge said: the motopunks are riding through the city!... bang, the name was born  :-D  and i still like this film with all the crazy people in it. 8-)

the name fits well with me because I have always been drawn by my own thing ... as i started first the build of my 83 kx250 and than the kx500 sf , They all said:
what are you doing with it? the KX500 is too big, too much power blah blah blah... ... and I thought to myself, these are all frightened hare .. :-D... after the first test ride in october 2012 i had the same big smile like after my first big bore ride in 1999 on a cr 500 and later that day i rode a k5 and since these days i love the big green smoker.
and i hate all 4strokes because they only hurt my ears and i miss the 2stroke punch out of the corners...

2stroke forever... i´m the real motopunk ... :-D

Glad I can make you laugh Motorrad. That's the least I can do for all the insight you've given me into the KX500 motor. I was a professional auto mechanic years ago, and have always been the guy in my group to do the wrenching, but still have never torn down a KX500. I think I learn something new from you everyday few days.

Also, your pictures of your latest cooking masterpieces also have inspired me to get cookin' myself. Only problem is I've been afraid to take a deep breath because my belt is getting so tight it's gonna be a lethal weapon when it breaks!!

Uhhh, they don't use tickets any more? Guess that shows how long it has been since I was there! I rode the tall ride (magic mountain?) before they took the dangerous (and deadly) top of it off after someone got killed. Was nuts! Being into maintenance all I could think of was during the ride was all the wheels, bearings, axles, bolts and chains and wondered who did the maintenance on it.  :-o
