Well, this is my first post, and I have an issue, my KX5 cylinder for my '86 was stolen, so I need a replacement, Kawi dealer says $800+ but I was wondering if there was a way to put the '89 and up top end on the '86 case? And does anyone make a big bore kit for the '89 and up motors if it would work?

i know that there was a lot of changes in 88 in the cylinder. i donot know if it will bolt on, but nothing is impossible.

While you may be able to get an 88 cylinder, the powervalves have been discontinued, so if you don't have those a cylinder will do you no good. You can possibly find one on ebay.
to answer your question, a 89 and newer cylinder will work on your 88. you will have to use the head from a 89 and newer as well. The roller for the powervalve is a bit different as well on the 88 and older, I think, 87 is defineately different but it will only cost you a couple of bucks to change it.
