Title: is this a problem
Post by: ballzoutkx500 on November 01, 2007, 10:07:44 AM
is it common for a kx 500 to back fire while kicking it over. IT isn't doing it while running and it isn't doing it every time maybe 1 time out of every 10-15 kicks and it makes a loud pop just wondering if it is normal like a build up of fuel burning or is something failing on me in the engine.

Mine does the back fire every once in a while. And man is it loud.  Sounds like a large hunting rifle.

My bike does it and so does my buddies CR5.  Most big 2-strokes I have seen do it from time to time.  My snowmobile did as well.

Mine does it occasionally when it's warm and I kick it like a girl (when tired).  Normally it doesn't. Cam.

My 04 KX500 has never backfired ( the noise ) when kicking. I have had it kick back a little against my foot, when I am tired and not giving it a  100% manly kick.
If you figure out why that happened, please post it.
