can anyone out there help?
im quite new to mx, ive got a 91 kx 125 which smokes quite bad.
the bike runs spot on but when ive been out on it there are always spots of oil on the calliper and swing arm. and the mudguard is always wet with oil. ive changed the plug and air filter but its still the same. also what does packing the exhaust mean?
all advice greatly appreciated.

if you read my topic "oil spitting exhaust" you will see i had the same problem. you just need to repack the silencer.
Repacking the silencer is changing the insulation inside the muffler. Over time with a two stroke engine the muffler gets saturated with oil and cannot hold anymore. Not having anything to absorb into the oil begins to shoot out of the exhaust and land on things like the mud guard, swing arm, caliper etc.
To repack the silencer you must remove the screws or tacks from the bottom of the silencer and then pull the exhaust pipe to separate them. you will see a very black insulation in the silencer or on the inner pipe when you pull it out. This is what needs replacing.
To replace it, i just use home insulation. The pink or white insulation that goes in your walls. Just take some strips of insulation and rap them around the inner pipe and then slide it back into the silencer housing. Try to fit as much on there as you can. Don't strain yourself doing it but just try to fill it snuggly.
Good luck
here are some pictures of what it will look like and some instructions.

Hello Brendon
I have the exact same bike you do. MY bike does the same thing. Try a hotter plug B9es. I read before you are running at about 50:1 that is pretty lean (make sure you are using a synthetic running this lean). I run my bikes around 40:1. Other than that you might want to play with your carb (rejetting). I know with my carb the jet needle was a little worn. It also could just be what Mustangfury said too.

thanks for advice chaps. ive re-packed the silencer but its still the same. im gonna try the hotter plug next. i'll let you know outcome tomorrow.

has anyone got a clymer and can tell me how many turns out the main jet should be please?
cheers bren.

Pilot air screw is 1 1/2 turns out.

Could be a crank seal on the clutch side. Ive replaced a few on my KX 250s. Unfortunately, I had to split the case on the 250s. Not sure about the 125s.

I have changed mine and it was real easy for this model. I think his issue is just jetting.
