Title: black
Post by: maddoggy on October 22, 2007, 09:59:56 PM
i know this has been discussed before but i need to bring it up again. i searched for an hour on the internet and cannot find any UFO black radiator shrouds for my 91 k5. if anyone can point me in the right direction i would really appreciate the help. i'm not a big fan of painting over the green with the plastic paint. I had an all black kx500, fenders, tank the whole nine yards except the shrouds. I never could find black shrouds. You could use black rit Dye if you had something big enough to boil the shrouds In. It will dye plastic very black but it will not be all the way threw. For some reson I think there was a year the kx500 came stock with black shrouds but I could be bumping my head.

I think I got mine from MX south.  :? I remember someone else asking and they said it was no longer stocked there. Their online catalog shows it in stock so it won't hurt to try and order from them maybe  :?

thanks tumbleweed, i'll check with the mxsouth guys. BDI, are you serious about the rit dye? if so wouldn't the boiling tend to distort the plastic? MADDOGGY

Yes you can rit-dye plastic It work very well. I have never had it warp anything actully if you boil plastic that has been warped some how, it will go back to it's cast shape. But it looks like you should be able to get black shrouds.
