It's the right color, that's for sure
-
its not only the right color
its on a flat front i see now :-o
it also took a hit on the fatty,s curved section,
wich is no good for the engine,s powerdelivery
its a nice bike ,but i see tech.issues first..
-
I like it! have fun with that thing!
-
KX500freak, yep it's correct...
but if you'll take a better look you'll see it needs to be re jetted to :-D
-
mmmm
i cant find anything else ?? :|
you make me curious now........
-
It?s a normal K5, I have DID rims like those of the KX125-250 (2002-2005), Talon hubs,
complete FMF , new seat cover, Renthal handelbar mmmmmm what else ??!!
Works connection fame guards and skid plate, new Motogpworld.com graphics, Acerbis
hand guards?. Basically that?s it!
I just ordered carbon fiber reeds and wider foot pegs.
-
it is the right color except for those valve stem caps. They need to be GREEN! j/k,
Nice ride.
-
I like it, especially the silver frame, it really looks good on your bike. air up that front tire and enjoy.
-
Speaking of color, I wish Kawie wouldn't get away from our favorite "Green"! They came out with the Ninja 1400 and what, No Kawie Green, now they are coming out with the new TeryX Side X Side and again No Kawie Green! What's up with that!
Anyway Nice KX5!
Alan :-D :-D
-
It's... beautiful.   What year is that?
-

wich is no good for the engine,s powerdelivery
Don't be so negative, a big fat dent on a fmf fatty might very well be a performance gain, d**n sure couldn't hurt. :-D

Great looking machine.

i didn,t ment to be negative bdi..
it,s just my mechanic eye that,s spotting an issue
and here we learned that an expansion pipe must be free of dents,
since the flow off the exhaust is now more restricted due to the dents.
i think otherwise FMF would have changed the layout of their fatty instantly, don,t you think?
-
it's m.y 00 , KX500freak now that winter has arrived i will have more time to fix
this dent on the pipe .... i am also thinking about re painting the frame with it's
original kawi green or even black , what do you think guys ?

hey david ,
its the same story for me too
this winter i,m building a circuit supermoto..
and its green for the frame ,best color imo.
here s a pic of me moto that,s allready finished ,
perhaps its bringin, inspiration for the colors
-
what m.y is it ? what did you do to make the engine look so clean ??????
if talking about sharp eye i saw on the top of the photo part of the radiator shraoud
and it looks like a 250 part ? can you post the photo of this K5 ?
-
hey david,
its a 90/91 k5 ex-competition bike
and what is a radiator shroud ,dont know the word ..i,m not that good in english
how do you see that its a 250 part??
engine is cleaned and the underblock painted heatresistant grey
ow and one pic is taken during building .
and the other on a gocart-track
and more pics in the galery and the topic kx 500 supermotard
-
Yes it good looking bike you have there ! for a 90/1 you did good winter job !
you are from germany ?
-
no not germany, the neighbour at the seaside..holland
thanks btw,
i,m very proud on this one because it,s rare
luckely i have a new project..winter07/08

That would be what you call sarcastic It was ment as a joke. In other words not to be taken seriously. allthough I do think the fmf pipe for the kx500 sucks but that is just my opinion I want all out power and that is not what the fmf pipe was designed for, fmf was shooting for "rideability". P.S. If it was me I would have glass beed blasted that dingy old head so that it looked as nice as the rest of the engine. Sorry that's just the perfectionist In me pointing things out.And If it was me I would put some oil in the transmission before I road it.
-
oh i think this is a misunderstanding!!
i didnt see the joke in your reply, sorry
and for the head ,you are right i only just cleaned it .
but for the oil you,re judging too fast...
i was assembling the bike at that point ,
and i,m used of doing all the fluids in one job,
first filling up gearbox with oil.
then after that filling up the coolingsystem with coolant.
so this way you cannot forget a fluid during the proces.
-
I was just giving you a hard time just some freindly joking around. I realize you are going to put oil in it just like I'm sure Davidvak1 is going to air up his front tire before he rides,Some thing just go with out saying. I think most people who post here are reasonably intelligent
-
hey bdi, i think that the engine needs a pipe on it or it will run like crap and have no power. but seriously that engine looks real nice and the bike should be a ton of fun on blacktop. MADDOGGY :-D :-P :-D :-P :-D

its way better since he,s also making time to repair the fatty too

I have proven that a engine will run with out a carb or a pipe :-P
-
BDI and maddoggy, where are your K5s ??? post your photos so we can enjoy them too.
-
davidvak1, check the photo gallery. there you'll find my photo album containing a nice photo of my k5 taken at st. anthony dunes this past july. i dont have many photos in my album yet due to a very busy life like everyone else. MADDOGGY
-
Well hell son I'm not shy 8-)
-
woow mean monster!! :-o
do you have the flagmount ?
and is it for safety reasons ?
nice conversion!!
-
hey bdi, is that pipe one of those you were putting together earlier this year? or is it a one off creation by you? just curious and that whole bike looks killer man. love the graphics. MADDOGGY
-
Yes that pipe is the same as I was working on. The graphics are of a little girl covered in blood with a chainsaw behind her back. I think it's fitting for a 250 with a 500 engine in it. I wonder what happend to davidvak1 I saw he was on here earlier reading this post but he did not reply I thought that was odd, he's the one who asked to see are bikes :?

At the sand dunes we have to have a flag by law and that is the only place that bike gets ridden so yes it has a flag mount.
-
bdi, after i examined the pix of your bike i noticed that you are running the three ribbed kings front sand tire. how do you like it compared to other fronts you've tried in sand? MADDOGGY
-
the only place I can really say it makes a difference is when you are side tracking a dune. If you try to turn up the dune it will actually go up the dune. If you noticed the back tire, that tire sucks and that was the first and last time it will ever see the dunes. At high speeds that tire is scary it rides up on those fins and gets real squirly at 80+ mph that is no fun and it does not hook that well so back to the king turbo 8 cup

Hey BDI, here i am !
i am from the other side of the glob, so when you are posting i am sleeping
you have G O O D L O O K I N G piece of art !!!! loved it, although the red frame is not
the favorite color (for me personaly, don't take it hard).
i would love to see more of you guys posting the photos of your monsters !!!!
-
one other question here bdi, i run the plain silver rims and after a trip to the dunes i noticed the rims were buffed to a dull satin finish. i have considered going to an anodized colored rim like you have but i wonder if the color would wear off in the sand eventually. have you noticed any change in the finish since the rims were new? MADDOGGY
-
If you put anodized rims on your bike and ride in the sand they will fade :-( My buddies red wheels were pink in about a season and a half.

I don't take it hard I do the things I do for me, if some one else happens to like it thats a bonus. Theres are two reasons the frame is red First reason is I thought it was something no one else would do to a kx. The second reason is the candy apple red powder coat over chrome matches all the anodized red hardware and the blood in the graphics.
-
candy apple red powder coat over chrome that matches the annodizing and the red in the graphic............meeeoooowwww
gotta love/respect that level of dedication and execution!!!!!
