Title: Kx500 -85 gearbox problem
Post by: berrra on October 16, 2007, 05:22:54 AM
The problem is that i can shift gears when the engine is not running,
but when i start it and try to shift it gets stuck between the gears,
then i cannot get back in gear and have to turn it off and shift.
does anyone know what the problem might be?

sorry for my bad english

Does the shifter lever go back to center position? I not you may have a broken return spring. Otherwise it sounds like you have a shifter fork problem. Maybe bent or worn out of tolerance. Sounds like you will have to crack it open................Sorry! :-( :-(   :x :x :x

yes the shifter lever does go back to center position, i will just have to take it a part
and take a look at the shifter forks then   :-(

Does this happen when you come to a stop in a high gear like fourth or fifth?

If your clutch is dragging even a slight amount it can put the gears into a bind and make it not shift easily.
