Which bike do you prefer? Do you like the new four strokes or do you like the older two strokes?

i cannot be more clear about your question,
then........he is

That is funny!!!! KXFreak......
Back to the question.......... Where do you live.............where do you ride.........Do you Race...........?
Alan :-D :-D

That really sounds like a question that needs to be asked in the general section, unless you wanted a biased result from your poll by posting it in a section obviously devoted to two strokes. :? Kind of like going to a Camaro board and asking how many people like Mustangs.
-
I think the general consensus is that the four strokes are easier to manage than two strokes. Personally I would want one of each. I have a KX500 because I live in an area where there are miles of and miles of dirt roads and trails and like the wide open speed only a 500 can provide. If I was riding tight trails or tracks I would probably go for a KXF250. I already am finding parts harder to come by for the 500 even though it has been in production for 15 years essentially unchanged and has only been out of production for 4 years. But I think that is the way the offroad market is anyway. The manufacturers want you to buy the newest models. I would stick to what works for you and run with it.

Yep, me also KX5 for the desert and dunes and a KXF250 for the trails.
Alan :-D

I've been on a 2-smoker since the early 70's, and I don't see a reason to switch now...
-
I'm no fan of the KXF. I enjoy the occassional smoke and will always keep a 2 stroke or 2 on hand.
-
2 2strokes on hand ....
i have 2 kx 500,s too :-D
but actually ,
i wanna buy all kx 500 out of the dutch market
so that i have all sitting in my garage
dream on dream on

I think most would agree that they want a KXF for It's frame and the KX for It's power

Yep, I second that. I'll add that the 4-stroke is just too expensive to upgrade and to maintain. I've seen first hand that the 4-stroke is fast on about every riding condition, and has to be better at stopping, and over all handling, but the k5's brute force and raspy sound and reliable and economical power keeps it on top, in my opinion. Eventually, I think we all will be riding the 4 strokes, but not today!!!! 8-)

i hope not
i want the 2 stroke to survive ,
and i know it will .
in maybe better settings,
such as improved efficiency of fuel use
by using fuelinjected motors
and otherwise we need too make a machinemanufacturer crazy enough,
too build us a couple of thousand cylinder,s cranks piston etc....
just for kx 500/cr 500 riders maintenance usage
if soon everything now in stock is sold
just thinking loud :|

My parts guy says they have to support (with parts) each model for ten years from date of manufacture. I'm putting together my own parts department of parts that wear fast and may get hard to find. Looks like we should have K5 parts till 2014 if the ten year part support is true.

They stop manufacturing them after 10 years is what I've heard, but usally have a TON of stock left over that will last 10 more years.. Stuff that wears faster will always sell out quicker too.
I ordered some parts for a friend and his '73 or something KZ175 or something like that. Kawasaki still had the parts.

ooww ... :-)
so for 10 /20 more years parts supply i understand here.
and also the fact that kx500 is pretty seldom these days
i think in holland only 30 or so left
my buddy,s who are all riding cr500 ,
are more and more desperate for finding the wearparts and hardware/plasts/components for their honda,s
i,m a lucky guy since i live 10 mile from a Premium atv/dirtbike Kawasaki dealer
that bloke has 2 major romney,s loaded with kawastuff 2ehand
and everything is new and genuine in stock!!
o here,s a pic of how rare KX500,s are these days

Honda is, was, and always will be into four stroke development. Let the CR die, it is outdated for a modern two stroke. Even a KX85 has KIPS!
-
yeah yeaah !
we know that !!!
butt with one good look you see thousands of the dino cr all over the world left
someone,s gotta tell them too :- :?
