I was working on a buddies ski today and discovered something new. This Is the vforce delta 2 reed for the kawasaki sxi 750 jet ski. It fits the kx500 cylinder fine as far as I can tell but It Is wider than the kx500 Vforce and has more pedals twelve instead of eight. I did not have a kx500 delta 2 handy but I do have a delt 2 reed plate for size comp It Is showed with the sxi delta 2 reed plate overlaid. The kx500 reed plate was used as a jig to make my aluminum intake and the hole was modified slightly that is why the hole is not square but the width Is untouched. If anyone has a KX500 Delta 2 that they can post photos and measurments of for comparison, please do.

Wow! Great observation. I wish I could help out but I have a Rad Valve. I will be watching this thread for sure.
-
hey brian i just thought about it and i think my v force twos do have twelve pedals i wonder if they made 250 or 125 reed sets that had the same bolt patren as 500 but less pedals iam glad you shared this for us all to look at good thinking

the jetski and kx500 are the same. i raced kawasaki 750 and 800 jetski intill 2005. You mite have a 250 cage. I have the v-force 3 in my motor now. more volicity then the 2's.
-
Hero to zero just like that.I feal like a jack ass, I probably have the wrong reed In my bike. :x

what v-force 3 valve are you using do you have the part number or bike that It normaly goes In.

you are not a zero it is wise to share ideas and get input from others i find that my piont off view is not always right and i am glad to learn

Thanks Stewart I'm just frustrated. You know I just threw the box out not to long ago I know It said kx500 on the little label that was stuck on the box. I would love to send this reed to you to see what the difference Is on the dyno because my bike rips. Now I'm going to have to build a whole new Intake but looking at the other reed has me inspired and now that I have my own tig welder Im looking forward to doing that. I'm picturing something made from aluminum sheet with a square runner that looks like a small slice off of a pro stock drag car manifold maybe I will put dividers inside of it so that each petal has It's own individual runner. :-D

think of the incress you should see now with the other setof reeds

the v-force 2 are too big for the carb size most people run. we ran 48mm carbs with that cage. we test with different size volume intake and you would be surpised and the findings. If you dyno the two cages and maybe see little to no power increase.
Ask Stewart three questions.
how much power did he see on the dyno from stock cages to v-force 2 cages.
And how much power did he see on the dyno with his piston window mod.
And what mod was faster when riding the bike.
-
I have that cage in my 88 500. It came from an 85 Kawasaki KXT Tecate 250.

I got Vf3 from KX250 before-05 and you have seen my K5 at youtube and it`s rips too.
Bigger isn?t always better, you guys have heard it before, yeah?
I will stuff the space around my Vf3 valve and get less crankcase volume and see what`s happen. :|

this is the set up that i have been running for sometime now. I have another set up that i will run next month. it better then this set up.

my carb Is 42mm my custom made intake Is 42mm My intake Is the same size 42mm exactly all the way to the reed block the hole leading into the read block is perfectly matched at no time does my intake get any larger or smaller than the carb untill the air and fuel enter the reed cage. I did this on purpose to keep the intake at maximam velocity until It got Inside the motor with no excuse to slow down before hand. My carb is half inch shorter than stock kx500 and my intake is half inch shorter than stock kx500 intake. My venturi Is a full inch closer to the engine than normal. I do not know if this rendered me any more horse power but the bike is very responsive with this design and never seems to run out of rpm on flat ground.the reed I have Is barely smaller it has eight large petals instead of twelve smaller ones my reed is only a couple of milleters narrower than the 500 reed.,
-
i would like to know how you machined out the Pwm to a 42mm. you are a first at that. common is 40.5-41mm. there another way you can get your carb closer by another 1/2-3/4". you are right the pwm is closer then the pwk.
and if you upgrade to the v-force 3 you can stuff the intake more. it's alot more narrower.

Im sorry Its been a little over a year and a half sense I bored my carb and built my Intake so even though this post has nothing to do with the size of my carb and I thought it would be rude to tell you to go f*ck your self. I figured I would pull my carb off my bike post a picture and tell you I'm sorry for exaggerating the size of my carb and promise not to lie any more about the size of my carb.

It's been over a year and a half since I built my carb and intake. I took It out and measured It. It turns out I was mistaken sorry. I used a bore gauge To get a good measurment My carb Is exsactly 41mm It Is my Intake tract that Is 42mm.
-
i didn't say you were a lier. i just asked you how you did it. because if you can do it then you can make alot of money because of it. there are alot of guys that what that extra 1mm bore.

No one want you to look stupid BDI! 8-)

If anything Kaw Rider wanted to know how you did it so he can do it with his.
-
are you trying to get the carb closer to the engine,if so why the spacer?
-
Speaking of carbs, I use a KX 250 carb bored to 40.5 mm, I can't tell you exactly how much closer it is but you have to modify the bottom left of the manifold to get it to fit. This mod greatly affects throttle response, it's always been a Supercross trick to get the carb as close to the piston as possible to gain throttle response.
Now that I have the 250 ignition modified for the 500, I'm going to try the throttle positioner and a JD racing ignition, which I hope to be able to get the software and cables to reprogram it to my specs.

Well I'm sure you guys have seen I changed my post but I probably can't change what you guys think of me. What I said and did was uncalled for and I'm embarassed for my actions. There Is no excuse for my actions. I apoligize to every one and I hope you guys do not think to badly of me. I have been thinking of what I did all day at work and I have been sick about It.
-
are you trying to get the carb closer to the engine,if so why the spacer?
The biggest reason I shortend up my intake was because when you stick a kx500 engine in a kx250 frame the carb and intake manifold are too long and It pushes the intake boot Into the shock spring and It rubs and It will put a hole In the boot eventually. My intake fixes this problem. I think the spacer you are talking about Is the reed plate. I did not like the plastic reed plate so I machined one out of billet aluminum that's why It does not say V-force on my intake but that's what the actual valve inside Is. the new intake I plan on building will be all one piece and the read block will screw to the inside. This should really make people scratch their heads because It will not look like it has a reed In It.

i got your pm, no problem here. everybody has there ideas and thoughts. I think if everybody puts there heads together they will have a very fast running bike. To get those red bikes something to cry about.

thats what its all about...............................

You guys know, I like hondas, But It makes me feel so good to blow the doors of some guy who thinks his cr500 is the fastest badest thing at the hill. You usually see these guys sitting there with their arms crossed with a real positive posture like they are some one of authority, their head bobbing up and down with every excited word, talking to their buddy about how no one has beat them all day, then I come rolling by on my kx250 (HE HE) and give him the nod towards the hill then he gives me that look of disbelief followed by the turn to say something slick to his buddy, usually followed by a shrug of the shoulders and confident kick of the engine. His buddy will usually have this sh*t eating grin like he knows something I don't. The best part is when we get back to the flats and he no longer has that positive posture and his buddy Isn't smiling anymore. It's so funny a lot of times they will just sit there and stare at the engine shaking their head and occasionally poking at It. Then there's the guy who just wants to keep going again and again. Don't get me wrong I know their's faster bikes out there than mine, I know a few of you have them. It's just that this is what makes my day a little brghter.
