Title: 500 TIRE SIZE
Post by: monster malibu on August 14, 2007, 01:26:41 AM
I was thinking about getting a set of colored tires for my bike and I've got a problem. The place that sells them has front tires that'll fit my bike (80/100-21), but they don't list my rear tire size (120/100-18). Can I swap my 18" rim/spokes for 19", without any problems? What size rear rims do the newer 500's use?

Unless I am wrong, the 19 is the stock rim for the 500.  My 92 500 is 190/90 19

I was looking for those color tires yesterday myself and came across a conversion chart. I will see if I can dig it up an post it.

http://www.tiresunlimited.com/ALL%20TIRES/Innova%20MC/innova_3014_3015.htm

This is the only sit I could find that has the color tires. the correct size is 110/90-19 GREEN 4 T110901914GRN  and the are out of them!

My 87 has a 18" rear wheel on it, if it was a 19" I'd be good to go. Do the 88-up 500's run a 21" front wheel?

I just looked at my post and releazed that I wrote 190 for tire width (opps) I mean 120.  I dont think I would be to happy with a 190 in the woods, of course neather would my swingarm

Yes from 87-04 the bike ran 21inch front wheel, 87 came stock with 18inch rear. If you run in rocky condition I would keep the 18 rear.

I would also add that the 18" wheel has more options on paddle tires.  have a 560X18 Paddle tire for my spare dune tire and it is a monster! :-D :-D

I ride alot of snowmobile trails where I live, they are made of gravel and sand. If I can switch to a 19" rear rim I'm going to, I like the camo tire idea. Can I mount a 19" rim and spoke kit on my rear wheel hub?
