how would one tell if kips is working without tearing evering apart. i race a 89 500 on a fifth mile oval in 3 gear,really fast but them 450 are hard to get by. sprokets are 14-48.

pull  two bolt plastic side cover of base of cylinder  take 10 mm nut loose spool should slide in and out freely if it dose push spool all the way in and tighten nut  if not tear down and clean

stewart i did what you said, i found the governer lever on the outside of the collar not in the groove. rod moves freeley i removed the c clip and collar put the lever end where it belongs,and buttoned it up.try it tomorrow. kept wondering why everyone said hold on. maybe tomorrow ill hold on.thanks again.
