Guy's I'm looking at a 02 CR250 very clean and nice bike. Anybody here have any opinions on the Honda? I know green web-site and red bike don't mix. Guy's I'm putting off a new bike for another year so I'm buying used. I just trying to find the newest 250 clean stroke regardless of brand. Thanks.

If it's the case-reed motor with the electronic power valve, stay away. Look for a similar year YZ250 if you're looking to go that route.
If it has the older style motor, get it! I'm not sure what year Honda went to the case-reed motor, but they never got it quite right. No bottom end and a bunch of jetting issues were the biggest problems.

Race against one. They're real fast, but are touch and go on tuning. And they have a weird mixture screw. I think its a phillips head, backed up with a lock nut. Trying to tighten it and not change mixture screw is different.I don't think it has an electronic powervalve. I would say good ergonomic bike. (Easy to ride) Super easy clutch pull. Very light and sneaky. Probably be faster with a Kaw motor mounted up.

What's the case reed design?

The reed valve opens into the crankcase instead of the cylinder. KTM does it too, but they work a lot better than the Honda.

It does have case reed design and electronic powervalve. I'm even learning about Hondas on this site!!!! Arigato is right again. I've ridden the bike messin around and it seems under powered. It is very nimble, though and you can catch some major air. It seems to launch off of anything, even if you're trying to be easy on a buddies bike. My buddy has had some jetting issues, but he seems to have running well now and doesn't have to mess with it. Still runs with all factory cylinder and piston. He comments all the time that it still has Japanese fingerprints on it.

Thanks for the info about the bike. I was going to look at it sunday and the guy called me and said he changed his mind and doesn't want to sell it. So I'll keep looking. I like that I can get 02-03 honda's with alumn frames for cheap. The 05-06 yz250's with alumn frames still cost to much for used bikes.

O.K here's an 2001 I'm looking at. The guy said it was all stock motor then he said it was bored out but doesn't know what size. I could tear down and measure. Is the 2001 bike diff. than the 2002? The only thing he could tell me was that it was fast and then he would tell me again how fast it was  . He has never been inside the engine. I guess I'll need to pick it over real good. Thanks.

That's the last of the good ones. If it's been bored, it's probably 2mm over stock. Ask him why it has been bored. Go over it very carefully and get it if it's sound.
