Title: IMS/CLARK GAS TANKS

Clark and IMS sell oversized gas tanks for the 88-up KX500. Will a 88 tank fit on my 87? I want the biggest tank I can get on my bike for trail riding. Somebody here must be running one of the above metioned tanks on their KX500, I need help.

Clarke doesn't make a tank for the 87', but IMS does.  The 88-04 tanks will not work on an 87' because the seat and frame mounts are different.  I too have an 87' K5 and have run into the same problem.

Thanks for the reply CAduner, now I know for sure what tank will fit. I'd like to get a natural color, oversized tank for my bike. I HATE guessing how much gas I have when riding and taking short rides. This bike guzzles down gas, but It's a blast to ride.

denniskirk.com has the IMS oversized tank fo the 87.
