nice set up...good detail.

Great post, I just went thru the trial and error process on my own and Arigato helped me to nail it down. This is very good info, considering how many motorcycle riders and parts vendors I asked about the issue. I wonder why none of he plastic mfg's are not moulding them up. Seems to be a demand for them!
-
Sly,
You are the Man!!!!! That is a phenomenal how to!! Now I see where I went wrong and had to do the frankeinfender. Well Done! Cam.
-
Nice job man!! I'll be trimming my seat soon. So will Jeff B.
-
Yesterday I had some free time and a new '93 rear fender laying around so I printed Sly's instructions out and started trimming.....30 min. later I was done with the fender and the seat! Even though this is the 3rd time I've done it, the instructions make up for a lot of trial and error. The seat mod is the bomb! Way to think outside the box Sly!

realy nice post, thanks :-D

Check out mine, small tank, 2000 year 250 plastics and subframe mods.
The tail pipe is the next for modifications.

Now that is cool, what was involved in getting the 250 plastics on? Take it you had to fabricate new mounting brackets on the frame?
-
The subframe is heavily modified, the tank is a one off and brackets are modified. will try and post pictures etc when I have a bit of time.
-
wow just done the mod on my 500 :-D :-D
makes the bike a hundred times better.
but now the exhaust looks real out of place!!

Man, i'd love to know the same thing!! Im gonna guess a modified 2000 tank based on the fact that the plastics and seat are of the 2k year... Maybe? :?
-
Any idea where to get a KX250 rear fender? I have looked all over and no one has just a fender, I can only find a complete plastic set.
TIA-
-
UFO plastic should be able to get at any parts supplier P.U. or T.R. etc.

RM_Rider14 - I bought one from bikebuzzard off of ebay. It's a new UFO still in the plastic. I think he still has one left.

I'm a huge fan of the stock fender......gives the bike a beefy look......the smaller fender makes it look like a 250 with and oversized front end........small body, big head.........

Not easy to find!! wow Been looking for an hour now. I found some k5 black side panels but no 92 rear fender to go with........................
Anybody find one?
-
k5forlife want to see me yours?
-
Finally got around to installing the '93 fender on my 2000 k5. It was a little bit of a challenge due to my bent subframe, but a hammer did an ok job of straightening it so that the fender is straight. Also, put on the new FMF silencer as the last one was broken due to bent subframe. I like the look! And just look at this super awesome central California weather - 75 degrees today and nothing but sunshine in the forcast!!!!

Once I got 155 psi back in my rocket......look out wnyma....

Took me six years to change my mind and adapt the pointy fender, but only took minutes to make the change. Great instructions I really appreciate you taking the time to post the pics and instructions.
I always thought a company would pick up on this and make some bolt ons, but no need now as this is so easy.
Thanks again, John.
-
yep my black one is on and I think it is great!
The site just keeps on producing..
-
thanks for this info will get mine done within the next week or so.

Check out mine, small tank, 2000 year 250 plastics and subframe mods.
The tail pipe is the next for modifications.
can we get some more info on this plastic swap
-
I did the mod on my 02' and loved it until I mounted a Baja Designs lighting kit. The weight of the tail light cracked both sides at the seat bolt holes. Did I undercut too much off or is it just not stout enough with the mod to support the weight?
-
Great mod I love the look of my 250 rear fender and for those who like the updated look of the 250 fenders the front fender off of a 03-07 kx250 will fit on the kx 500 all you have to do is use a 3/8 drill to barely make the holes bigger so you can reinstall the metal grometts but the holes are a direct line up and the fender looks great.

Yeah I know the gas tank color doesn't match the UFO plastic but I am about to take care of that and thanks again for the mod on the rear fender.
By the way I used a jigsaw and sawzall to trim my rear fender it worked perfectly
-
