Title: woods kx65 setup
Post by: megad on May 03, 2007, 02:51:26 AM
Anyone setup a 65 for single track use?

My mod list for my sons is..

Barkbusters
moose torque spacer
boyseen dual stage reeds
7oz flywheel weight
copper washers between pipe and cylinder

not sure how much the torque spacer and copper washers really help with bottom end, anyone know?

also where to get the copper washers? I may try them on my wifes kx125 too

don't forget the skid plate. maybe a little bigger front sproket or smaller rear.

To add some bottom end, I'd go a tooth less on the front and add a few on the rear.  Yes it lowers the top speed, but it help add to the bottom end.

I would make sure I had good clean jetting for the little bike. At those slower speeds it just would be a lot easier for the little man to keep the bike running and not foul any plugs,

-1 tooth front sprocket and +2 on the rear sprocket. Leave that copper washer out of there, all it does is choke the flow up and kill power. Doesn't add to bottom end at all.

Barkbusters, skidplate, lower gearing like above and flywheel weight is all I'd add. Like Hughes has said, make sure the jetting is correct especially the pilot and needle settings as there is nothing worse then killing a plug on the trail. It ruins your ride.
