If i put a 140$ into a 50w lighting coil, will i have the ability to put a headlight, brake light, and turn signals on my 98 KX 250?I have the money to do it, but i dont wanna spend it if I cant be on my way to makin it street legal.
Anyone know of any good DOT approved dual sport tires?or a speedometer?

How much reseach have you put into trying to make your kx250 street legal? It anit going to be easy in most states.

States with low population are less restrictive. It's easy to street a dirt bike in Oklahoma.

there are older 2-stroke bikes that are street leagal. but the thing is the "off road use only" tag. some even say closed circuit course only. however, if you can get a title for it so that it can be insured, and the have the proper lighting and requirements. it'll pass inspection.

Id check your states DMV rules and regulations before you spend the money on a dualsport kit and lighting coil. Ive been able to tag all of my KXs and YZs but its a major pain in the butt. The D/S kits that Ive seen seem to require more wattage for their kits. E-Line makes a dual 100w coil (2 100w leads) Its pretty expensive at $350 to $400. In my opinion, they are the most reliable and are independent of the ignition stator plate. I have them on several of my bikes and they have been trouble free. Ive heard of a few problems with the add on coils going bad and causing ignition problems.l

I got my KX250F street legal very easy, I went and got the VIN verified by the Artic Cat Dealer(no motorcyle dealers around here), then I went and bought insurance, and then I went and got a plate. No one even looked at it except for the guy that checked the VIN. I could have got a plate with NO changes to the bike but I already had the street legal mods anyway. Its really nice to live in a small town in the middle of nowhere.
Then this winter I put a K5 motor in the 250F chassis, so I still have the plate. Its not a 250 anymore but its still registered as one.
