Title: WATER PROBLEM

   HI ALL                                                                                                                                    , HAVE KX 250 98 MODEL,JUST BACK FROM TAKEN CYLINDER HEAD OF,SEEMS TO BE GETTIN WATER IN TO THE HEAD,DEFINATE. BUT CYLINDER ANG GASKET LOOK OKAY,NEED UR HELP GUYS.IS THERE ANY SEALS THAT I MAY B OVER LOOKIN :? :? :? :? JUST GOT BACK INTO THE BIKES AGAIN. NOT SURE ON WAT TO DO,GETTIN ME DOWN AS I HAVENT GOT CASH TO THROW AT REPAIR BILL. NEED YOUR HELP OUT THERE :-(

You mean you're getting coolant in the cylinder?  If so, what makes you believe you're getting water in the cylinder?

hi there cheers for reply ma friend, when i took cylinder head of ma piston looked wet,iam clutchen at straws at moment. got reply sayen if it is white smoke could possibly ma head gasket but stript it down lastnite,just got new seal kit threw door earlier today,going over to bike tonite, got told repack my tailpipe,new gasket on head,new seal waterpump,sprocket shaft. wat do u think :?give it a go anyway,dont want to give in that would be to easy............ :| :?

Did you ride the bike after you put it back together?

To check if it is really water being burned in the cylinder (white smoke coming out of pipe) you can watch the coolant level if it drops.  You could have a crack in the cylinder/water jackets and leaking in.

Also,  the spark plug will have a white/gray crusty/moldy looking film around the isolater  (white ceramic part) instead of being gray/tan/black/clean.  Generally a bit longer term result for the plug though.

Very possible you have condensation/water in the fuel tank or fuel supply.  Sometimes you will get water in the expansion chamber (fat part) of the exhaust pipe,  usually from pressure washing.  This could cause white smoke.

Good points Sly!  Pboy, Also keep in mind that water entering from the water pump seal will turn the trans oil milky -but it can't get into the engine to burn.  The only way coolant can get into your engine is (as Sly said) a leaking head gasket or cylinder cracks. As a sign to look for, a leaking head gasket will often cause a wash mark on the piston crown (it washes the carbon off).  Hope this helps. Cam.

cheers ma friend,bike is gettin new seals allround big end also hopefully get it built back up weekend and give everythin once over and we will see how she goin,thanx again 8-)

hi guys,thanx for all the great advice,sorry took so long to get back to yous,bike is back on form ma crankseals were gone if anythin kind of goodnews. almost at breakin point but hung in there. goin out this weekend make up for lost time,many thanks again for your feedback.............ying ying all the way.

So the smoke was a little more blue than white maybe?  Always a good feeling to have those main seals in good shape since they can make tuning a nightmare... how about those main bearings?
