Title: Airbox modification
Post by: pepper on April 05, 2007, 09:33:27 PM
Im wondering about opening up my airbox a bit.

Is it recommended to drill holes or do anything to open up the airbox for running fat in the sand.

What about the vents on the side of the airbox.  Is anyone riding with these open?  It  seems like it would let in a load of crap.  What is the intended purpose for these (still waiting on my manual)?

I was thinking along the lines of drilling a few holes and then covering them with panti hose or something similar to keep out contaminants.

Thoughts?

The side "vents" are intended to be closed in wet conditions only. The air cleaner is there to keep the crap out ;)

I ride in the sand with the vents open.  I have also made 2 additional holes on each side of the airbox.  These holes have those mini filters you can buy at most bike shops.
