Title: intake flaws or breaks

heres a pic of a known problem on kx 500 cylinders in the intake runner is it casting flaw or cracking looks like flaw to me  any in put would be great  stewart

Yep, know exactly what your talking about, I thought I had a crack so I bought a brand new cylinder, lo and behold it looked like the one I replaced. After that I did a closed inspection and determined it was casting flaw, anyway I've been using the cylinder for a couple of years with no issues.

I can see some extra bottom end power just waiting to be unleashed from those lower boost ports.  Cam.

i had not started the port work  on this cylinder yet until after the bridges are welded up

Can be cracks(very common),so weld it if you are gonna replate it anyway.

Intake modified,exhaustport modified and so on... :wink:
