Brindle,

Eric Gorr at Forward Motion worked over my cylinder 2 weeks ago.  I had the upper mid to full throttle works porting with head and piston mods.

Very reasonable pricing.  2 weeks turnaround time.

I followed all the info I could find in this forum relative to fuel, squish clearance, ignition timing, break in etc.

Best info you'll find anywhere. Bar none

Let us know how your bike turns out

I think that Dordie is the expert on engine work. He ice races and lives in Europe so he is usually on line late at night.

Use the search under the R in the KX Riders Logo at the top of the page. Also look through the Gallery and see what you can find.

There will be more people on later, most of them are riding during the weekend days.

So hang in there and some will assist you shortly! :-D :-D

Welcome to the site! :-D :-D

Alan

i saw the new aprilla 550 motard, wow what an impresive motorcycle. the guys at the shop told me it puts out 77bhp!!! that would be fun on the street (for a 4 stroke)
Title: Re: PORTING & POLISHING
Post by: doordie on March 17, 2007, 08:28:46 PM
kx666,sorry to disapointed you a "little" bit!

I?m involved with my friends tuning of these A... sxv550,they put out in restricted form about 55 bhp and unrestricted with open inlet and changed fuelmap approx 65 bhp.
With new factory pipes and changed fuelmap, ignition and rpmstop at ~12000 rpm,
71 bhp BUT only approx 55Nm of torque,I got 70 bhp/70Nm!

Very easy tuning with computer and a program from Australia,TuneBoy.

A dyno, but not ours with not race allowed GPR pipe on(to much dB):

http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=4495400094480521641&hl=e

Then my friend Robin Reilander?s with iceroadtires and factory pipes on,he?s remaining Swedish Champion.

No more talk about this bike ,sorry to say,Italian spaghetti bike!!!!

i sent the head and cylinder eric he said it would take about 2 weeks
to port & polish & bore & replate the cylinder & cut the head .
every around here said they would have to send it off to.
they said not eric but othrers said they could bore it to 546cc
with 88 mm. i ask how is that i only got 526
Title: Re: PORTING & POLISHING
Post by: doordie on March 18, 2007, 08:29:27 PM
526cc,stock stroke 86mm and changed 88mm bore.
546cc,changed stroke to 88mm and changed 88mm bore.(less rpm,but more torque).

Must tell you a new inveted thing on that Factory Husaberg,it?s a composite rod to reduce weight and makes about 2000 rpm more than stock!
(over 70+Bhp and 70+Nm)

Steward, they closing in on us,that fourstrokes!

It also got the new Magura brake system, the same price for it as mine KX500 I bought recently! :-D :-o

scotscooby,at my home! :-D

Steward,It?s real Backwheel power,I were there.... :-o

Can you again explain how much advance/reduce timing from stock and do you use stroboskop or measure?
Do you ovalbored fitting holes of ignitionplate to get right timing?
Title: Re: PORTING & POLISHING
Post by: stewart on March 21, 2007, 01:35:06 AM
i have ground the timing slots longer towards the advance dirction but found the advance marks from kawasaki  to be about 3 degrees  and that was where i got my best results at 3 degrees advanced

try looking  on ebay for the lectron.also spell it electron.some people spell it wrong.if you don't find a 44mm then get a 40mm and have it bored.with or without power jet is a option for tuning.newer style is preferred because of metering rod change.

WHAT SERIES OF  needles is used in that lectron  x  or xl or  plian

Steward, the needle is 3-1 XL ,what do you suggest I should start with on 99 oktan (not oxygenated fuel) but tuned bike. :?

Lectron says 7-1 XL on a stock KX500 seems rather wrong to yours 4-1 XL. :|
