Title: Silencer And Gasket Questions

Have no silencer for my KX500 so I need one. Curently bidding on one but if that falls through I need options. Thinking an FMF "shorty" since they seem to always be on ebay.

Will a 250 based silencer fit the OD (outside diameter) of the KX500 expansion chamber?


Also I need to know what motor gaskets are universal from 88-04. I assume the clutch cover, stator, base, and PV gaskets are the same?? I have a 90-04 Cometic gasket kit and I think from lookin at it the only gaskets I can't use are the head and base gaskets.

The 250 silencer is smaller diameter than the 500, if you modify one to fit you will restrict the exhaust flow, probably have good bottom but no mid-top. Clutch cover and ignition gaskets should be the same, base gasket from 89-04 will be the same, head gasket from 86-88, then 89-90, and finally 91-04
